<제국신문>에 나타난 혼인제도와 근대적 파트너십

Abstract

이 연구의 목적은 『제국신문』에 나타난 혼인담론을 통해, 대한제국기의 혼인제도와 파트너십의 근대성을 구현하는 방식을 고찰하는 데 있다. 대한제국 정부와 그 시기의 지식인들은 국민을 국가의 동력으로 하여 국민국가의 위상을 수립하기 위해, 국민의 의식을 문명화된 것으로 변화시키기 위해 계몽을 기획한다. 신분이나 가문과 관련된 제도, 특히 전근대적인 혼인 제도인 일상의 변화에 주목하게 되고, 그것은 근대적 가족 로망스에 대한 사회적 상상으로 수렴된다. 과부 개가 금지, 억혼, 축첩제도를 타파되어야 구습의 일상으로, 남녀동등법이나 일부일처제는 성취되어야 할 근대적 일상으로 규정하는 결과를 가져온다. 대한제국기의 근대적 가족 로망스에 대한 사회적 상상은 적어도 구습의 피해자인 여성도 남성과 동등하게 국가의 파트너가 될 수 있다는 관념을 형성시켰다. 이로 인해 전근대 사회에서 한 번도 주체로서 인정받지 못한 여성이 역사적 주체이자 근대적 파트너가 될 수 있다는 자부심을 가질 수 있었다. 그런데 전통적 윤리가 근대적 가족 로망스를 덧씌워지면서, 가부장의 위상을 점령한 국민국가와 문명이라는 기표가 절대화된 이념으로 존재한다. 그 결과 혼인 악습에서 여성을 해방시킬 수 있는 실효성 있는 방안을 논의하지 못하는 한편, 여성을 공적 가부장제에 교묘하게 예속시키려는 징후를 보이고 있다.This study showed the way to realize the marriage system and the modernity of partnership in Daehan Empire, through the martial discours that appeared the 'Chekuk Sinmun(The Journal of Empire)'. For establishing the national's position by people as national power during that time, the imperial government and intellectual had thought the Enlightenment project that it was transforming. people's consciousness into the Civilized. It has to be taken into social imaginary of the romance of modern family focusing to the everyday life of the system related with a position and one's family, especially, the premodern marriage system. As a result, it identified that a daily event in old customs must be eliminated and every one equality law or monogamy must be achieved. For this social imaginary of the romance of modern family in Daehan Empire, it can be said that is an advanced in terms of suggesting a idea also feminine will be a partner for a nation, who are a victim of old custom equally with men. So women who had never been admitted as the Subject in Pre-modern society took pride she can be historical Subject and a partner of modern society. However the marriage discourse in that time was overlapped the romance of modern family with traditional ethic, so it was only existing as such a idea that is absolutize by the marker so-called as a nation-state and civilization which occupies the position of patriarch. As a result, it didn't argue about the effective way that women can get out of the vice of traditional marriage system. And it may find the symptoms that enslaved deliberately women to public patriarchy
