Abstract
In this paper, a new wireless network simulator is proposed. The purpose of the proposed simulation model is to easily analyze the performance of WAVE protocol under various vehicular communication scenarios. The framework of the proposed simulator is designed based on the Event Driven Scheduling (EDS) approach. The proposed simulator is designed to support characteristics of WAVE protocol. Enhanced Distributed Channel Access (EDCA) and Carrier Sensing Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) mechanisms are implemented as specified in the IEEE 802.11p standard. In addition, the proposed simulator provides both alternating channel access and continuous channel access for the multi-channel operation as specified in the IEEE 1609.4. Multi-channel access of the proposed simulator is verified in terms of the packet transmission time and reception time within corresponding channel interval.
