‘Bando Siron’ had the unique features with respect to the travel in Joseon in 1910s in the aspects that it had the advantage in enhancing the completion of planning as the monthly magazine, not the daily paper, the land survey was executed on the national level and Koreans as well as Japanese participated as the authors for travel journals. In particular, the travel journals by the reporters of Bando Siron described the ‘process’ of national land survey by Japan in detail. On the aspects described above, the results from the ‘land survey in 13 provinces in Joseon’ published in Bando Siron definitely illustrated the land survey in Joseon in 1910s executed in the name of ‘travel’. In spite of the significant of Bando Siron described above, Bando Siron was not discussed up to now. This paper examined and summarized the purposes and implementation process of ‘land survey in 13 provinces in Joseon’ published in Bando Siron. Next, this paper investigated the aspects and methods which Joseon became the target of survey by Japan-by pro-Japanese magazine in detail- in late 1910s. Prior to the investigation, this paper analyzed the political aspects of the round trip in Joseon by Japan on the aspects of political features and sovereignty contained in that ‘trip’. On the basis of the meaning above, the intellectuals mobilized for ‘land survey in 13 provinces in Joseon’ can’t help being recognized as the ‘information source in the colony’ as the cultural survey on the colony. The travel journals by Baek Dae-jin and Choi Chan-sik were very faithful to the planning purpose of Bando Siron, that is, ‘exploitation of the colony Joseon’, because they reflected the planning purpose unilaterally and definitely. Their travel journals outrightly exposed the political features contained in the Joseon travel plan by pro-Japanese media in late 1910s. Furthermore, the land survey on 13 provinces in Joseon by Bando Siron was the imperialistic process recognizing and accessing to the land ‘Joseon’ as the subject of intrinsice information itselt as the colonial information.en_US
