Abstract
The performance of air-source heat pump decreases due to frosting at outdoor heat exchanger during heating process in winter. To overcome this defect, treating the heat exchanger surface as hydrophobic can retard the frosting. In order to analyze the effect of frost retardation, the time of frost formation should be exactly acquired. Thus, the phase change moment was accurately captured by luminance meter and the effect of frost retardation was investigated with various surface contact angle under air-source heat pump operating conditions.
