dc.description.abstractThis paper presents the structural design of the automotive component satisfying the damage constraint. Topology optimization method has been employed in the commercial FEA software to find the structure satisfying the stiffness performance. However, the structural design method considering the fatigue damage is required to prevent the failure caused by the repeated loading conditions. The global fatigue damage represented by the regional p-norm function of the high cycle fatigue damage is considered as a constraint while the volume is minimized, and the relaxed damage value is used to improve the convergence of the optimization process. Based on the design example of a control arm model, we can find the lightweight design while satisfying the damage constraint.en_US
