Mooring cable is a key element in offshore technology for the station-keeping of floating structures. These cables are geometrically nonlinear and due to the presence of nonlinear hydrodynamics forces the behavior becomes more complex. The axial stiffness is most influential parameter in the static response of mooring cables. In this study the fluid drag forces are applied using the Morison’s equation. The axial stiffness is varied and its effect on the cable tensions and cable displacements are illustrated by numerical example.
