완벽주의 성격과 다문화태도와의 관계에서 무조건적 자기수용의 조절효과

Abstract

본 연구는 완벽주의의 하위차원인 자기지향 완벽주의, 타인지향 완벽주의 및 사회부과 완벽주의와 다문화태도와의 관련성을 전제로 하여 완벽주의와 다문화태도와의 관계를 확인하고 이들의 관계에 있어서 무조건적 자기수용 수준의 조절 효과를 발견해보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울과 경기도에서 근무하는 직장인 258명을 그 대상으로 자료를 수집하였고, 상관 분석과 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 완벽주의의 하위변인과 다문화태도의 하위변인 간에 부분적으로 관련성을 나타내었으며, 완벽주의 하위변인들 각각의 영향력이 통제된 상황에서 자기지향 완벽주의와, 타인지향 완벽주의는 다문화 태도에 유의하게 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 자기지향 완벽주의와 다문화태도의 하위변인인 차이인식간의 관계는 무조건적 자기 수용 수준에 따라 유의하게 달라졌다. 아울러, 사회부과 완벽주의와 다문화태도의 하위변인인 차이인식, 개방과 수용 간의 관계 또한 무조건적 자기수용 수준에 따라서 유의하게 달라짐을 발견할 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 다문화사회에서 중요성이 더해가는 다문화태도에 영향을 미치는 변인으로서 완벽주의 성격을 발견할 수 있었으며, 이에 대해 무조건적 자기 수용을 조절변인으로 고려함으로써 완벽주의와 다문화태도 간 관계에 대해 이해의 폭을 확장시킬 수 있었다. 이를 통해 실 제 상담 및 교육 현장에서 완벽주의 성향이 강한 사람들을 접할 때, 무조건적 자기 수용 수준을 높히는 개입이 도움이 되지 않음을 경험적으로 확인했다는 데에 의의가 있다. This research aimed to investigate the relations of perfectionism and multicultural attitude upon a premise that sub-factors of the perfectionism : self-oriented perfectionism, other-oriented perfectionism and socially-prescribed perfectionism are related to multicultural attitude and to examine the moderation effect of self-acceptance on the relation between perfectionism and multicultural attitude. The questionnaires designed to measure multidimensional perfectionism, unconditional self-acceptance and multicultural attitude were administered to 258 office workers in Seoul and Gyeoggi-Do. The results from correlation analysis and regression analysis were as followed. First, sub-factors of the perfectionism was partially associated with sub-factors of multicultural attitude. In particular two sub-factors of the perfectionism : 'self-oriented perfectionism', 'other-oriented perfectionism' yielded effect on multicultural attitude, controlling the effects of other subscales. Second, unconditional self-acceptance moderated the relation between 'self oriented perfectionism' and sub-factor of the multicultural attitude : 'recognizing difference'. And unconditional self-acceptance moderated the relation between 'socially prescribed perfectionism' and sub-factors of the multicultural attitude : ‘'recognizing difference', 'openness and acceptance'. This present findings not only extend understandings about relationship between perfectionism and multicultural attitude by examining self-concept : unconditional self-acceptance but also provide that it isn’t helpful that further support and rationale for unconditional self-acceptance as intervention for targets to focus in counseling process for those who suffer from perfectionism.
