- Abstract
- This paper investigates an air system model for a light duty diesel engine with a dual-loop exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system and variable geometric turbocharger (VGT). The proposed model estimates unmeasurable engine states using only equipped sensors on mass product engines. The maximum error of thermodynamic states are only when the temperature, pressure and mass are less than 5% and the maximum error of the mass flow rate model is less than 0.003 kg/s. Temperature dynamics and transport delay are obtained to improve the estimation performance in transient engine operating conditions. The model is validated under engine experiments.
