한시 대중화의 현황과 전망

Abstract

고전의 대중화에 대해서는 이미 여러 논자들이 언급한 바 있으나 한시의 대중화를 다룬 연구는 거의 없다해도 과언이 아니다. 대부분 고전 전반의 대중화를 다룬 테두리 안에서 단편적으로 다루거나, 한시를 주로 다루었다 해도 번역의 문제에 치중했을 뿐이다. 여전히 한시는 여러 고전들 중에서 가장 대중화가 어려운 분야중 하나로 남아있다. 지금까지의 한시 대중화는 소수의 작가군이 주도해 왔고, 뒤따르는 연구자의 성과가 앞선성과를 뛰어넘지 못했던 게 사실이다. 이제는 그 작업을 이어 받아 선도해 나갈 젊은 피들이 필요하다. 기존의성과를 바탕으로 현대 독자들과 호흡하려는 의지와 실력이 요구된다. 작품 한 편을 놓고 평설을 다는 방식이 대부분인데, 개인에 따라 평설의 수준도 천차만별이다. 이제 평설도인상 비평이나 작품의 동어 반복에서 벗어나 작가의 삶과 작품의 미감이 함께 드러날 수 있는 방향으로 진일보해야 한다. 또, 한 번 완역이 되고나면 그 후속 작업은 오히려 속도감을 잃는다. 완역은 훌륭한 원석이지만그것을 재가공한 결과물은 수공자의 실력에 따라 달라진다. 원석보다 화려하고 값지게 만들 수도 있고, 되레그 가치를 훼손할 수도 있다. 다양한 형태의 리라이팅 작업이 필요한 것도 이런 이유에서다. 이미 출간된 한시 관련 서적들은 천편일률적으로 꽃, 계절, 명절, 지역 등을 다루고 있다. 이제는 이야기의폭을 좀 더 넓혀 생태나 노년, 다양한 동식물, 장소 등에 새로운 온기와 호흡을 불어 넣을 때가 되었다. 지금이 시대는 학문적 자질과 대중적 역량을 함께 갖춘 연구자를 원하고 있다. 연구자의 품위를 잃지 않으면서 대중 저술에 대한 시도 또한 멈추지 않는 노력이 필요하다. While the popularization of a classic has been discussed in many researches, it’s not too much to say that there is almost no research on the popularization of Chinese poems. The popularization of Chinese poems was simply discussed in the researches focusing on the general popularization of a classic. Even when Chinese poems were discussed as the main theme, such researches tended to concentrate on the translation issues. Chinese poems are one of the fields which are difficult to be popularized among diverse kinds of classics up to now. The popularization of Chinese poems has been led by several authors up to now and the follow-up researches couldn’t exceed the previous researches in reality. The young researchers who will lead the popularization of Chinese poems are required. The initiatives and abilities to cope with the needs of readers in these days are required on the basis of the previous achievement. Another issue is too schematic form. The criticism has to be advanced to expose the life of an author and the aesthetic feeling of works beyond tautology or impressionist criticism. Furthermore, the follow-up researches generally lose the keenness once after the complete translation. It’s one of the reasons why we need rewriting in various styles. The books related to Chinese poems published in the past monotonously dealt with flowers, seasons, national holidays or regions. It’s time to infuse new warmth and breath into ecology, old age, a variety of animals and plants and venues by expanding the scope of stories now.
