통일 시대 문학교육의 한 방법, 간문화적 역량을 중심으로－황석영의『바리데기』 를 중심으로－

Abstract

본고에서는 황석영의 소설 『바리데기』를 대상으로 통일 시대의 문학교육을 위한 제재 가능성을 탐색하여 보았다. 이를 위하여 통일 시대에 필요한 역량인 간문화적 역량을 중심에 두고 이에 기초한 통일 시대 문학 제재의 선정 기준을 마련하였다. 먼저 간문화적 역량의 개념을 살피고, 이를 지식, 기능, 태도로 나누어 분석하였다. 여기에서의 지식, 기능, 태도는 문학 자체에 ‘대한’ 내용이라기보다 문학을 ‘통한’ 교육 내용에 초점이 있다. 이러한 간문화적 역량에 기초한 통일 시대 문학 제재의 선정 기준 역시 지식, 기능, 태도 측면에서 분석하였고, 이 외에도 기타 고려해야 할 요소로서 남한과 북한 교과서 수록 여부와 작가, 장르를 추가하였다. 제재 선정 기능의 주요 내용으로는 한민족으로서의 공통적 역사 지식, 남한과 북한의 정치․경제․사회․문화적 차이를 아는 것에서부터 공동체 의식 함양과 이를 통한 연대의 내용까지를 다루었다. 『바리데기』의 ‘바리’는 이러한 이해와 공감, 연민과 동질성을 회복할 수 있게 하는 인물이다. 또한 『바리데기』는 민족 공통으로 수용 가능한 바리데기 설화 관련 이야기로 시작할 수 있기 때문에 남북한의 학습자 모두에게 거부감을 줄일 수 있어서 남북한의 소통을 문학 작품을 통하여 가능하게 할 수 있다. 따라서 『바리데기』는 통일 시대의 문학교육의 제재로 다루기에 적절하다. This paper explored the possibility of using Hwang, Seok-young’s novel, 『Baridegi』 as a material for literature education in the reunification era. For this study, the selection standard of literary materials in the reunification era which is based on intercultural competence, was established. First, the concept of intercultural competence was considered and this was divided into knowledge, function and attitude. Here, knowledge, function and attitude are focused on the educational contents ‘through’ literature rather than the contents ‘regarding’ literature. ‘Bari’ is the character who helps learners reach an empathic understanding and restore a pity for diaspora and homogeneity. 『Baridegi』 can facilitate communication between the South and the North through literary works by reducing resistance of both South and North Korean learners, since it is possible to start with the 『Baridegi』 folk tale which can be accepted commonly. Therefore, 『Baridegi』 is good to be used as a material for literature education in the reunification era.
