Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, v. 10, NO 2, Page. 138-140
Abstract
Swallowing a foreign body of dental origin is a rare occurrence; but, it can be dangerous if the foreign body is large, sharp, and pointed. We report a case in which a large fixed partial denture became dislodged and was ingested while the patient was undergoing general anesthesia, and was removed postoperatively with endoscopy. Anesthesiologists should understand the dangers and recognize this complication when it occurs, and prepare a suitable treatment plan. (Anesth Pain Med 2015; 10: 138-140)
