Abstract
The purpose of this article is to explore the identity of Hankido and examined its reality, popularity, and subjectivity on the basis of the criterion of identity to reach the following conclusions. First, in terms of the reality, Hankido adopted of our own traditional words in language selection; technology systems to complement the disadvantages of the Korea Hapkiod and simplified into 12 different categories. One technology could be applied to various situations which allowed possibility to achieve perfection and consistency of the training system. In addition, an illusion method of training called Hwansang-Do-Bup, a new solution for practitioners to perform self-defense training alone instead of having to usually require more than 2 people. Second, the popularity has spread to fit all age groups through practitioner trainings and international seminars. Distanced from martial arts of combat training, all practitioners can gradually increase engagement, response and administrative aspects of martial arts aim to live a healthy life as well as physical and mental discipline. Third, the most common thing in terms of subjectivity in Hankiod is the Hankumdo law. Through the improvement on creative process which combines the soul of a nation and consonants and vowels of Hangul to invent Hankumdo law. This cultural and historical reference in the martial arts world is truly unique. In the second article, paragraph 1 of the Traditional Martial Arts Promotion states that “traditional martial arts (including martial arts event designated as an important intangible cultural property) referred to is native or introduced from outside the domestic formal creative in domestic and non-structured (武) method to promote martial art fighting body at the national level. Moreover, it recognizes and holds the cultural value”. Based on the exploration of traditional martial arts identity as a sport, it increases expectation of traditional Hankido and intend to globalize the sport in the global era.
