Abstract
Siebold resided in Japan for about 9 years. During this period, he introduced Western medicine to Japan and was called the 'teacher of modernization'. After returning to Europe, he collected folk crafts, crafts, animals, and plants brought from Japan. Siegbold was evaluated as the person who 'cryopreserved’ modern Japan and introduced Japan to Europe. In this study, we investigate the role of Alexander's son on Siegbold’s evaluation. Alexander’s son conducted public relations diplomacy for the World Exposition, the treaty revision, the Sino-Japanese War, and the Russo-Japanese War in association with the will of the Meiji government of Japan. In addition, we evaluate the commemorative project and the related data preservation that provided meaning to Siebold.
