중국의 애국주의와 한류 팬덤 간의 사이버 갈등: BTS 리더 RM의 ‘밴 플리트 상’ 수상소감 관련 온라인 댓글 분석을 중심으로

Abstract

중국의 애국주의가 인터넷상에서 점차 극단적으로 변질됨에 따라 한류 팬덤과온라인 애국주의 간의 이념적 갈등이 빈번하게 발생하고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 본 연구는 BTS 리더 RM의 ‘밴 플리트 상’ 수상소감과 관련된 중국 네티즌의 반응을 관찰하여 중국의 팬덤 애국주의와 한류 팬덤 간의 갈등 발생 심리를분석하고, 이를 통해 팬덤 애국주의의 모순을 드러내고자 한다. 기존의 중국극단 애국주의 연구가 주로 표현 방식의 특징과 문제점에만 초점을 맞추었다면, 본 연구에서는 중국의 글로벌 팬덤과 애국주의자 간의 갈등을 포함하였고 애국주의의 원인 또한 국가적 측면과 사회적 측면을 총체적으로 고려하였다. 분석 단계에서는 2020년 10월 11일부터 2021년 2월 21일까지 RM의 발언과 관련된 ‘신나 웨이보’ 게시물의 댓글 214개를 수집하였으며, 단어 빈도에 대한통계 분석과 함께 질적 텍스트 분석을 수행해 애국주의 표현의 심리적 특성을살펴보고 애국주의 팬덤의 심층적 동기, 집단 정체성에 대한 인식, 다른 집단에 대한 태도 등을 분석하였다. 그 결과 애국주의 팬덤이 중국 내부의 분열과상호비방을 확대한다는 것과 다른 민족⋅국가 간의 원한을 살 수 있다는 해석을 도출하였다. 이는 두 가지 상반된 사상이 내면에서 충돌했을 때, 사안의 복잡성과 불확실성에 맞서 서로 대립한 관점을 이해하기보다 상황을 이분법적으로 바라보고 한 가지를 채택함으로써 스스로를 불확실성이나 모순 속에 두지않게 하려는 심리가 그 기저에 있기 때문이라고 해석할 수 있다. 이러한 사고방식은 소수의 의견이 형성되는 것을 초기에 말살하여 중국 애국주의가 본래담고자 했던 평화와 공존에 대한 가치를 훼손하고 온라인상에서 분열을 조장하는 등의 부작용을 낳는다.

The main goal of this study is to reveal the Fandom patriotism under the extreme Internet environment from the perspective of national unity pursued by China’s true patriotism. To delve deeper into this question, this study analyzed 214 comments on tweets related to BTS leader RM’s speech. In this study, the reviewer ID, comment time and comment content of Weibo comments were downloaded through Python. Then Nvivo Pro12 was used to code and count the word frequency of the comments. Based on the coding and word frequency statistics results of Nvivo Pro12, the text analysis is conducted to explore the influence of Fandom patriotism on Chinese netizens. Through qualitative research, this paper reveals the psychological and emotional characteristics of Chinese netizens when expressing patriotic feelings, as well as the deep motivation of their behaviors, their sense of belonging to groups, and their attitudes towards other groups. The research results obtained through the analysis of Weibo comments are shown below. First, extreme fandom patriotism exacerbates divisions and mutual slander within China. Second, after the RM award speech incident, Chinese netizens treated Chinese BTS fans (Army) as people without a sense of patriotism. Third, Chinese netizens argued that when a clash between patriotism and fandom occurs, the country should be chosen unconditionally, and some netizens argued that in order to avoid such a conflict, one should not become a fan of a foreign celebrity.
