국립무용단 창작작품의 콜라보레이션 효과 연구

Abstract

현대 예술의 흐름을 살펴보면 무용뿐만 아니라 타 예술 분야에서 다양한 형태의 콜라보레이션이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 콜라보레이션을 통해 대중을 확보하고 이익을 창출하여 예술적 가치와 인지도를 높일 수 있으며, 무용예술에서도 콜라보레이션 공연이 활발히 진행되고 있다. 특히 무용예술에서는 해외 안무가와 협업을 통한 콜라보레이션이 큰 성과를 가져왔다. 국립무용단의 사례를 살펴보면, 서양무용을 전공한 안무가와 한국무용의 콜라보레이션으로 고정관념으로부터 탈피하여 제한적인 표현을 깨고 움직임의 확장 등의 독특한 기법이 연출되었으며 이는 관객뿐만 아니라 창작자에게까지 새로운 관점을 선사하였다. 본 논문은 국립무용단과 해외 안무가 협업 작품「시간의 나이」와 「회오리」에 나타난 콜라보레이션 효과 분석을 통해 작품에 나타난 독특한 안무 창작기법을 모색하고 해외 안무가 초청 활성화 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 「시간의 나이」와 「회오리」작품에 나타난 콜라보레이션 요소를 다음과 같이 도출할 수 있다. 조세 몽탈보의「시간의 나이」에선 무용과 미디어가 결합하여 무대에서 춤을 추는 동시에 대형 스크린에 영상을 투영하여 신체만으로는 표현하기에 한계가 있는 부분을 보완하고 대형 스크린을 통해 영화를 보는듯한 효과를 주어 시각적인 자극으로 관객들의 흥미를 유발하였다. 영상 테크놀로지를 통해 시각적인 효과와 작품 의도를 강조하였으며 여러 장르의 춤을 무대에 녹여내고, 기존의 틀을 벗어 고정관념을 깨고 전통과 현대를 조합하거나, 해체하여 새로운 형태의 춤 양식을 창작해냈다. 조세 몽탈보는 춤과 춤, 춤과 음악 등을 콜라보레이션하며 한국무용을 새롭게 연출하였고, 독특한 발상으로 소품과 음악을 활용하며 예술의 융복합을 통해 다양한 콜라보레이션 기법을 보여주었다. 테로 사리넨의 「회오리」에는 한국 전통춤에 다양한 움직임을 섞어 춤의 입체성과 역동성을 나타냈다. 한국춤의 정중동(靜中動)의 원리를 이해하고 활용하여, 전통춤에서 볼 수 없는 독특한 움직임과 전통춤을 융합시켰다. 전통춤과 현대성이 만나 이국적인 움직임을 창조하는 등 다양한 움직임이 연출되었다. 테로 사리넨과 오랜 기간 함께 해온 의상디자이너 에리카 투루넨과 조명디자이너 미키 쿤투의 작업이 어우러져 시각적 효과를 자극하고 한국 관객뿐만 아니라 유럽 관객을 매료하였으며 시각적 효과와 청각적 효과가 어우러져 모든 요소를 결합하여 예술의 미학을 보여주었다. 테로 사리넨은 다양한 나라의 문화를 받아들이고 학습하면서 무용 발전에 대해 모색하였다. 예술의 다양함을 수용하여 무용으로만 완성하는 것이 아닌, 다른 장르의 춤과 예술을 콜라보레이션하여 공연을 성공적으로 이끌었다. 해외 안무가와의 협업 작품에 나타난 콜라보레이션 요소는 대중들에게 호평을 받으며 무용공연의 흥행을 이끌고 무용인식을 높일 수 있음을 증명할 수 있었다. 한국무용 단체와 해외 안무가의 협업 작품 분석연구로 가치를 입증하여 콜라보레이션의 필요성을 인지하고 초청공연 활성화로 이어질 수 있도록 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.|The purpose of this research is to analyze the collaborative effects observed in the performances of the National Dance Company's 「Shigane Nai」 and「Vortex」 by inviting overseas choreographers. It seeks to understand the characteristics of collaboration demonstrated in these works, examining the activation of inviting overseas choreographers and its impact.

In contemporary art, collaboration across various art forms is thriving, not only in dance but also in diverse artistic domains. Through collaboration, enhancing artistic value, generating benefits, and engaging audiences are becoming common. Dance performances, too, reflect this trend, actively incorporating collaboration. Especially in dance arts, inviting overseas choreographers leads to significant outcomes, breaking limited expressions by combining the expertise of choreographers from different dance genres with Korean dance, thereby expanding movements and elevating artistic values.

This study examines collaborations between Korean dance groups and overseas choreographers to explore new dance techniques and prop usage through the perspectives of foreigners. In 「Shigane Nai」 by José Montalvo, dance and media intertwine, projecting videos on a large screen while dancers perform on stage, complementing the limitations of physical expression and providing a cinematic effect, stimulating visual interest. Through video technology, emphasizing visual effects and artistic intentions, the performance incorporates various dance genres, breaking conventions, merging tradition with modernity, or deconstructing to create new dance forms. Montalvo revitalizes Korean dance by collaborating between dance and music genres, utilizing props and music uniquely, showcasing diverse collaboration techniques through the fusion of arts.

In Tero Saarinen's 「Vortex」 various movements blend with traditional Korean dance, showcasing the depth and dynamism of dance. Understanding and integrating the principle of 'Jung-Joong-Dong' in Korean dance, Saarinen combines movements like waves, not typically found in traditional dance, creating exotic motions by merging tradition with modernity. Collaboration with costume designer Erja Hirvi and lighting designer Mikki Kunttu enhances visual effects, captivating both Korean and European audiences. Moreover, the live performance by the group B'wing, led by Jang Young-gyu, based on traditional instruments, amalgamates visual and auditory effects, amalgamating all elements to exhibit the aesthetics of art. Saarinen explores dance development by embracing and learning from multiple cultures, successfully leading performances not confined to dance alone but collaborating across different art forms.

Through the analysis of these works, the collaborative elements resulting from collaboration with overseas choreographers prove to enhance the success of dance performances, capturing public interest and elevating artistic value.
