클로드 모네(Claude Monet)의 회화 특성을 활용한 패션디자인 개발 연구

Abstract

With the advent of the digital information age, how people perceive beauty is evolving. People like things with cultural, spiritual and originality, and have become obsessed with the pursuit of personal life satisfaction. Fashion is a unique cultural and artistic form with a wide range of artistic aesthetics such as architecture, music, painting, literature, sculpture, dance, theatre and film. It plays a very important role in the human cultural system and promotes the historical development of human culture. Therefore, painting and fashion are inseparable. Due to the influence of the cultural background of Western painting art, many fashion designers are inspired by famous paintings. They cleverly combine painting art and costume design to integrate them into modern fashion. In modern painting, cubism, futurism, surrealism, fine art and pop art are all inspirational references for costume design. They have penetrated deeply into the field of fashion, forming an artistic landscape that merges with each other. In the case of many modern painting genres, we have in mind the fashion style derived from them. The exploration of these costume design styles is also a return to a particular painting genre, master or work. In terms of materials and techniques, therefore, modern painting has had a great influence on the development of fashion design. Impressionism is a major art movement of the late 19th century that broke with the traditional norms of painting, opting instead for observation of the natural world in order to express light and momentary feelings in free strokes and vibrant colors. Impressionism had a profound influence on the development of modern art, inspiring later artists and designers with its use of color and expression of light and shadow. Claude Monet was one of the most important and representative artists of the Impressionist painting movement and played a key role in the development and promotion of Impressionism; his "Training" series inspired the development of art schools such as Abstract Expressionism in the 20th century and is an important milestone in the history of modern art with its unique artistic style and rich visual effects. For this reason, the aim of this study is to analyze the pictorial characteristics and expressive techniques of Claude Monet, a representative painter of the Impressionist movement, and to present the possibility of using them in original works of fashion design. This study analyzes the concept of Impressionism and the artistic characteristics of Impressionism in Monet's works by examining previous studies on Impressionism and Monet's works. Conduct a survey and analysis of Monet's representative works of "Haystacks", "Poples", "Rouen Cathedral", and "Water Lilies" into four painting elements: color, composition, light and shadow, and techniques. The analysis of representative works shows that there are three painting techniques: color segmentation, triangular composition, and point drawing. Secondly, from multiple design fields such as clothing, craftsmanship, and jewelry, Monet's design cases inspired by painting were analyzed and investigated in four aspects: color, composition, form, and techniques. Through analysis, there are four forms of expression that can be applied to clothing design: intuitiveness, instantaneity, diversity, and uniqueness. The characteristics that emerge in the fields of craftsmanship and jewelry design are decorative and symbolic (spiritual) expressions. In order to perfectly reproduce the subtle and delicate painting images and color expressions of Monet's paintings, the Combine technique in the SCAMPER technique was adopted, combining and mixing two fabrics to create new materials. There are a total of 6 design works, divided into 2 series, which comprehensively express the characteristics of Monet's painting through instantaneity, diversity of light and shadow, and special techniques. Works I, II, and III are inspired by the water lilies (1905), and the clothing forms can be divided into "T", "S", and "X" silhouettes. The technique uses artistic structure to express color separation and point drawing techniques. In the PCCS color tone classification table, multiple colors such as purple, green, blue, pink, etc. are mixed together like a dot drawing technique in the light gray tone and soft tone tones, and are expressed using multiple layers of lace fabric. The material is made of digital printed fabric, lace fabric mixed with lotus patterned metal thread, and five compartments. Works IV, V, and VI reference images<Water lilies>(1906), clothing forms can be divided into "T", "S", and "T" silhouettes. The techniques used include color separation and dot drawing. In the PCCS color tone classification table, colors are represented as green, blue, and yellow in light gray tone and soft tone. The material is made of denim fabric, lotus patterned metal black lace fabric, and five stems. Therefore, this study applies the expressive characteristics of Claude Monet's paintings to clothing design, thereby developing creative clothing design. The results of this study can serve as the basic data for future creative clothing design and development, and are expected to provide extensive inspiration for clothing design ideas.

Keywords: Impressionism, Claude Monet, Training, Fashion Design, Art and Fashion| 디지털 정보화 시대가 도래함에 따라 사람들의 미에 대해 사상은 시대와 함께 발전하고 있다. 사람들은 문화성, 정신성 및 독창성이 있는 사물을 좋아하고 개인 생활상의 만족을 추구하는 데 열중하게 되었다. 패션은 하나의 독특한 문화예술 형식으로 건축, 음악, 회화, 문학, 조각, 무용, 연극, 영화 등 예술 미학이 폭넓게 녹아 있고 인류 문화 시스템에서 매우 중요한 위치를 차지하고 인류 문화의 역사적 발전을 촉진한다. 이에 보면 회화 예술과 패션은 떼려야 뗄 수 없는 관계이다. 서양 회화 예술의 문화적 배경의 영향으로 많은 패션 디자이너가 명화 작품에서 영감을 받아 회화 예술과 의상 디자인을 교묘하게 결합하여 현대 패션에 통합한다. 사람들은 이러한 의상 디자인 스타일을 탐색하는 동시에 특정 회화 장르, 대가 또는 특정 작품으로 거슬러 올라간다. 그만큼 현대 회화는 소재와 기법에서 패션 디자인의 발전에 큰 영향을 미치고 있다. 인상주의는 19세기 말 등장한 중요한 예술운동으로 전통적인 회화 규범을 깨고 야외에서 관찰하는 것을 택해 빛과 순간적인 느낌을 자유로운 필치와 밝은 색채로 표현했다. 인상주의의 색채 활용과 빛과 그림자 표현 방식은 이후의 예술가와 디자이너에게 영감을 주었고 현대 예술의 발전에 지대한 영향을 미쳤다. 모네(Claude Monet)는 인상주의 회화 운동의 가장 중요하고 대표적인 예술가 중 한 명으로, 인상주의의 발전과 추진에 핵심적인 역할을 하였다. 그의 '수련' 시리즈는 독특한 예술적 스타일과 풍부한 시각효과로 20세기 추상표현주의 등 예술 유파 발전에 영향을 미치고 현대예술사의 중요한 이정표다. 따라서, 이에 본 연구는 인상주의의 대표적인 화가인 클로드 모네(Claude Monet)의 회화 작품과 다른 분야 디자인 작품에 나타난 회화 특성 및 표현기법을 분석하고, 독창적인 있는 패션 디자인 작품에 활용할 수 있는 가능성을 제시함에 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서는 인상주의와 모네의 작품연구에 관한 선행연구를 고찰함으로써 인상주의의 개념과 모네의 작품 중에 인상파의 예술 특징을 분석하였다. 모네의 <건초더미>, <포플러들>, <루앙 대성당>, <수련> 대표적인 작품들을 색채, 구도, 빛과 그림자, 기법 등 4가지 그림의 구성 요소로 나누어 조사분석 하였다. 대표 연작들을 분석한 결과, 회화 기법은 색분할법, 삼각구도 및 점묘기법 3가지로 표현이다. 그 다음에 패션, 공예, 주얼리 등 다양한 디자인 분야에서 모네의 회화을 영감으로의 디자인 사례들을 색채, 구도, 형식, 기법 4가지 측면으로 나누어 분석하고 조사하였다. 분석을 통해 패션 디자인에 활용할 수 있는 특성은 직관성, 순간성, 다양성, 특수성 4가지로 표현이다. 공예, 주얼리 디자인 분야에 나타난 특성은 장식성과 상징성(정신적인 차원) 표현이다. 모네 회화의 미묘하고 섬세한 회화적 이미지와 색채표현을 완벽하게 재현하기 위해 스캠퍼(SCAMPER)기법 중의 결합하다(Combine)기법을 적용하여 두 가지 원단을 결합· 혼합해서 새로운 소재를 만들었다. 디자인 작품 총 6점는 2가지 시리즈로 나누고 순간성，빛과 그림자의 다양성 및 기법의 특수성을 통해 모네 회화 특성을 전체적인 표현하였다. 작품 Ⅰ， Ⅱ， Ⅲ은 그림<Water lilies> (1905년)을 디자인 영감으로 삼았으며 의상 형태는 " T " , " S " , " X " 실루엣으로 나눌 수 있다. 기법은 색분할법과 점묘기법을 아트 패브릭으로 표현하였다. 색상은 PCCS톤 분류표에서 밝은 회색 톤(light greyish tone)과 부드러운 톤(soft tone)속에 보라색, 녹색, 파란색, 분홍색 등 여러 색을 점묘기법처럼 혼합되어 보이도록 레이스 패브릭을 여러 겹 겹쳐서 표현하였다. 소재는 디지털 프린트 원단, 연꽃무늬의 금속선이 혼방된 레이스 원단 및 오간자를 사용하였다. 작품 Ⅳ， Ⅴ， Ⅵ은 그림<Water lilies> (1906년)을 참고하여 의상 형태는 " T " , " S " , " T " 실루엣으로 나눌 수 있다. 기법은 색 분할법과 점묘기법을 적용하였다. 색상은 PCCS톤 분류표에서 밝은 회색 톤(light greyish tone)과 부드러운 톤(soft tone)속에 녹색, 파란색, 노랑색으로 표현하였다. 소재는 데님 원단, 연꽃무늬 메탈릭 블랙 레이스 원단 및 오간자를 사용하였다. 이와 같이 본 연구는 클로드 모네의 회화 작품의 표현 특성을 의상디자인에 적용함으로써 창의적인 의상디자인을 개발할 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과는 향후 창의적인 패션디자인 개발에 활용할 수 있는 기초자료로 활용될 수 있으며, 패션디자인 발상에 폭넓은 영감을 제시할 것으로 기대된다.
