장기기증자를 위한 도심 속 추모공원 계획

Abstract

본 연구는 도심 속 추모 공간의 부재에 대한 질문에서 시작하며, 바쁜 일상속의 시민들에게 추모 공간을 통한 치유와 휴식을 제안하고자 한다.

추모는 죽은 사람을 그리며 생각하는 행위이며, 주변에 흔하게 보이는 기념비, 동상, 묘지 등이 속한다. 이처럼 추모의 형태는 사람을 그리워하는데 국한되어 왔다. 하지만 최근 해외에서는 공간성과 추모를 결합하여 추모 당사자는 물론 일반 시민들도 쉽게 접근할 수 있는 추모 공원을 조성하며, 일상속에서 추모라는 행위를 공존할 수 있게 하고 있다. 반면, 국내의 추모시설들 대부분은 봉안당이나 묘지로 대변되며, 혐오시설이라는 인식하에 일상 생활과는 분리된 , 도시 외곽에만 존재한다. 이런 상황에 따라, 국내에서도 추모 공간의 접근성과 추모 를 통해 얻을 수 있는 상징적이고 심리적인 여러 영향 을 고려할 때, 도심 속 추모공간의 필요성이 부각되고 있다.

본 연구에서 제안하는 추모 공원은 장기기증자를 위한 추모공간으로, 타인에게 생명을 나누며 희생하는 정신과 이를 추모라는 경험을 일상 시민에게 공유한다. 장기기증이 우리 삶에 밀접한 관계가 있기에, 일반 시민들도 어렵지 않게 추모라 는 숭고한 감정과 비일상적인 행위를 도심 일상에서 경험할 수 있는 공원의 형태로 구축하여 제안한다.|This study is predicated on understanding the deficiency of dedicated spaces for remembrance and commemoration in urban landscapes. Memorialization, remembering and honoring deceased individuals, often manifests in forms like memorials, statues, and cemeteries. Traditionally, forms of the memorial were limited to mourning specific individuals. However, contemporary practices have introduced a spatial aspect, resulting in the creation of memorial parks. These spaces, visited by acquaintances and strangers alike, integrate natural elements and have been woven into people, thus enabling the coexistence of everyday life and remembrance.

In contrast, domestic memorial parks in South Korea have been primarily confined to charnel houses or cemeteries, often pushed to the outskirts of urban areas due to the perception of being repugnant facilities. Consequently, people must leave the city when seeking nature and rest. In densely populated metropolitan areas, where most people’s urban living is inevitable, this study explores urban spaces that permit everyday memorial parks and provide various symbolically and psychologically impactful experiences to them.

This study proposes a memorial park designed explicitly for organ donors, individuals who selflessly share their lives in a selfless sacrifice. Despite the profound impact of organ donors on our society, there need to be more suitable memorial spaces for these individuals, leaving many without appropriate spaces for remembrance. This study further aims to raise awareness and stimulate reflection on organ donation culture among the public.
