영화 <청년경찰>, <범죄도시>에 나타난 범죄 장소로서의 다문화 공간 비교

Abstract

이 연구는 영화 <청년경찰>과 <범죄도시>에 나타난 두 개의 다문화 공간, 다시 말해 대림동과 가리봉동이 영화 속 범죄 공간으로 그려지는 과정에서 나타난 유사성과 차이점을 살펴보기 위한 것이다. 주요 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 영화 씬으로 살펴볼 때, 영화 <청년경찰>의 경우 핵심 범죄 공간으로 대림동이 등장하며, 대림동은 5개 하위 공간들로 구분되어 있었다. 영화 속 대림동은 우리 일상공간과는 완전히 고립된 범죄 공간으로 기술되었다. 반면, 영화 <범죄도시> 속 가리봉동 거리는 유흥업소와 조폭들이 연계되어 도시 공간을 지배하는 폭력적 공간임에도 일상생활 및 노동의 공간으로 비교적 개방적으로 다루어졌다. 둘째, 영화의 플롯을 바탕으로 살펴보면, 영화 <청년경찰> 및 <범죄도시> 플롯은 서로 유사한 편으로 나타났다. 두 영화 모두 실제 사건을 부분적으로 차용하고 있으며 장르적으로도 코믹 범죄 장르를 유지하는 동시에 영화 속에서 소탕되어야 할 범죄자로 조선족 조폭이 등장한다는 점에서 유사성이 있다. 게다가, 이들 영화에서 나타나는 대림동과 가리봉동과 같은 다문화 공간이 조선족 조폭들이 범죄를 일으키는 핵심 공간이라는 공통점이 있다. 셋째, 두 영화에서 나타난 범죄 유형이나 대상, 범죄 해결 주체, 공권력과 지역 공동체의 범죄 해결 참여, 범죄 해결 공간 등 다문화 공간 내 범죄 유형 및 특성들을 비교한 결과, 두 영화는 조선족 조폭 범죄를 다룬다는 공통점을 제외하면 범죄와 연계된 공간 구성이나 의미, 맥락 등이 서로 다른 것으로 나타났다. 영화 <청년경찰> 속 대림동이 사회로부터 배제되고 고립된 조폭들만의 공간이었다면 영화 <범죄도시> 속 가리봉동은 지역 공동체와 교류, 협력이 이루어지는 동시에 공권력을 통해 범죄가 진압되는 등 정당하고 열려진 공간으로 기술되고 있었다.;This research examines characteristics of multi-cultural spaces as crime scenes in two movies, “midnight runners” and “crime city” More specifically, this study compares daerim-dong with garibong-dong in terms of their scenes, plots and natures of crimes. Results suggested that both multi-cultural places in two movies were described with negative or criminal characteristics. In addition, everyday life of ethnic Koreans in Seoul was distorted in two movie. Although “Midnight Runners” has focused on daerim-dong as the criminal places, “Crime City” has approached garibong-dong as the everyday spaces. Secondly, there were similarities of plots between two movies in terms of storytelling and antagonist. Both movies were depending on complex genres such as comedy and criminal, and described some Korean-Chinese people as negative ones. Thirdly, there were differences between two movies in terms of criminal factors including community society and its participation. Although “Midnight Runners” has approached on daerim-dong as the isolated criminal place, “Crime City” has explained garibong-dong as the nexus between Korean-Chinese people and community people.
