미디어아트를 통한 영상디자인과 공간디자인의 융합 연구-한글 키네틱그리드를 이용한 미디어아트 작품 ‘한글패브릭’을 중심으로-

Abstract

본 연구는 융합형 미디어환경을 위한 영상콘텐츠 제작의 사례 연구이다. 한글키네틱그리드를 이용하여 제작된 한글패브릭 작품을 중심으로, 융합의 근원이 되는 영상디자인과 공간디자인의 배경이론들을 분석하고, 한글키네틱그리드의 구성과정 및 작품제작 설치과정을 밝힌 논문이다. 이론적 배경으로 미디어캔버스로 확장되는 영상디자인 환경에 대한 고찰을 시작으로 공간디자인 패러다임의 변화를 논하였다. 현대 건축에서 나타나는 표면에서의 디지털 미디어의 활용, 디지털 미디어와 공간디자인의 유기적 융합을 고찰하였다. 그리고 작품의 주요 재료로 활용된 한글의 그리드 디자인과 모듈화 디자인에 대한 기존의 연구들을 제시하였다. 작품 연구에서는 한글 키네틱그리드(kinetic-grid)의 구성원리를 소개하고 움직임을 기반으로 한 한글모듈시스템을 설명하였다. 이 모듈시스템을 바탕으로 2008 디자이너스블럭런던에 전시되었던 한글패브릭(Hangl Fabric)의 제작과정 및 설치, 전시 진행과정과 성과를 밝혔다. 이를 통해 영상디자인과 공간디자인 융합의 결과물로서 한글패브릭의 의의를 밝히고 향후 연구의 방향에 대하여 논의하였다.;This paper presents a case study of multimedia contents creation for converged media environment. Using Hangul Fabric created with Hangul Kinetic-Grid as a main subject, the paper analyzed background theories of media design and space design and presented the creation and installation of Hangul Kinetic-Grid. For background theories, the paper started with presenting changing media design environment which is expanding its boundary to media canvas and discussed the paradigm shift in space design. Usage of digital media in skins of modern architecture and organic convergence of digital media and space are discussed. And presented grid design and module design using Hangul which is the main element in Hangul Fabric. In work study, it presented design principle of Hangul Kinetic-grid and explained Hangul module system based on custom law of animated motion. Based on the module system, it presented the making and installing process of Hangul Fabric which was invited and exhibited at Designersblock London 2008. With this, the paper discussed the significance of Hangul Fabric as a converged design result of multi media design and space design.
