레이아웃 형식화: 효과적인 레이아웃을 위한 디자인 방법론

Abstract

눈은 인간의 감각 기관 중에 가장 활동적이다. 레이아웃을 관찰할 때 시각이 고정되는 순간은 대략 300 밀리세컨드(millisecond)이다. 눈이 깜박이는 순간은 약 20 밀리세컨드이다. 이렇게 빨리 움직이는 시선에 흥미를 주고 참여를 유도하는 방법을 연구해야만 효율적인 레이아웃이 될 수 있다. 디자이너는 이런 빠른 시각의 움직임을 조정할 수 있는 능력을 보유해야한다. 이런 능력은 디자이너에게 필요한 시각적인 능력(Visual Literacy)을 확장시킨다. 특히 시각 디자인에서 레이아웃은 컨셉과 메시지를 효과적으로 전달할 수 있는 기본적인 요소이며, 보는 사람들로 하여금 디자인에 흥미를 주는 핵심적인 역할을 하고 있다.그러므로 본 연구에서는 레이아웃 형식화(Layout Formalization)라는 디자인 방법론을 시각운동, 초점, 강조, 시각방향, 시각계층의 개념을 중심으로 분석하고 연구하였다. 레이아웃 형식화의 디자인 과정으로서 1) 형태적 요소(Morphologic Factors), 2) 초점선(Focal Lines), 3) 구성 막대(Compositional Bar), 4) 시각계층 막대(Visual Hierarchy Bars)를 구축하여 의식적으로 시각적인 표현에 맞는 레이아웃을 연구할 수 있게 하였다. 또한 레이아웃 형식화는 디자인 이상화 개발(Design Idealization Development)에서 창의적인 레이아웃을 연구 가능하게 해주며, 시각디자인을 배우는 학생들이나 초보 디자이너들로 하여금 레이아웃 능력을 개발하는데 도움이 될 것이다.; The eye is most active part of the human sensory organs. It takes about 300 msec fixation period to view the layout. An eye blink takes about 20 msec. With these rapid eye movements, one should study how to give the eye an interest and participation on the layout for developing an effective layout formation. The designers must know how to control the rapid eye movements, and always study the most effective way to accomplish it. This knowledge can expand visual literacy for the designer. Especially in Visual Communication design discipline, the layout is a basic element to communicate the concept and message. At same time, layout is a primary role as to give a visual interest to the viewers.Therefore, this study shows 'Layout Formalization' design methodology based on analyzing the concept of the eye movements, focal points, emphasis, visual direction, and visual hierarchy as basic theory of the design methodology. The design process of the Layout Formalization is developed as follow: 1) Morphologic Factors, 2) Focal Lines, 3) Compositional Bar, and 4) Visual Hierarchy Bars. It make possible to develop layout with visual expression consciously. Also, Layout Formalization helps to develop creative layout designs during the design idealization development phase and to educate the design students and beginner designers to develop effective layout design skill.
