문화콘텐츠 스토리텔링의 현황과 전망

Abstract

본 연구는 문화콘텐츠 분야에서 화두로 부상한 ‘스토리텔링’에 대한 그간의 담론을 정리하고, 활용 현황을 진단하며, 남겨진 과제를 요약하는 데 목적을 둔다.

스토리텔링 개념의 등장은 미디어 및 디지털 기술의 발달과 적용과 깊은 상관관계에 놓인다. 또 문화콘텐츠 개념의 대두와 글로벌 마켓의 확장, 창조 사회로의이행 등 사회 문화적 패러다임의 전환과도 긴밀하게 연루되어 있다. 그런 까닭에,스토리텔링은 사회와 산업 현장이 요구하는 실용적인 기술이자 방법론적 도구로더욱 독립적인 분야로 발전해 가고 있는 추세다.

지난 10여년간, 이야기 원형을 발굴하는 작업과 그 구현 요소를 학문적으로조망하는 연구는 동시적으로 진행되어 왔다. 스토리텔링 환경과 성격 변화에 대한진단도 다각도로 검토되어 왔다. 덧붙여, 스토리텔링 범주 내에서 가장 첨예한 분야로 조명받고 있는 디지털 스토리텔링은 콘텐츠 유형의 다변화에 따라 가장 급속하게그 영역을 확장해가고 있는 것으로 판단된다.

학문으로서 스토리텔링이 한국 문화콘텐츠 산업의 바람직한 발전에 기여하기위해서는 더욱 다양한 세부 방법론을 확충해 나가야 할 것이다. 이를 위해 문화콘텐츠 기획과 제작을 전제로 한 스토리텔링에 대한 논의가 더욱 풍성해지길 기대한다.;This study is aimed at arranging discourse in the interim, about ‘storytelling’ emerged as the main theme in cultural contents field, also diagnosing current state of practical use, and summing up remaining subjects.

Appearance of storytelling concept is closely involved with development and application of media and technology, and above all conversion of sociocultural paradigm such as cultural contents concept’s rising and extension of global market, transition of creative society and so on. Thus, storytelling is developing to more independent area as practical technology required in society and industrial site and methodological tool.

Through past ten years, excavating story archtype and academically surveying its realization elements has synchronistically proceeded. Diagnosis about storytelling circumstance and personality alteration has also examined from various angles. In addition, it is considered that digital storytelling, receiving spotlight as the most acute field in storytelling category, is extending its domain in most rapid pace according to contents type’s diversification.

Storytelling as study needs the expansion of more various detailed methodology to contribute at desirable development of Korean cultural contents industries. To achieve this, still more discussion of storytelling in the premise cultural contents project and production is expected.
