산업용 로봇 도입이 성별 고용과 결혼 및 출산에 미치는 영향

Abstract

전 세계적으로 로봇의 사용은 증가하는 추세에 있으며, 특히 한국은 2020년 기준 근로자 수 대비 로봇 운용대수가 가장 많은 국가로 나타났다. 로봇의 도입은 고용에 부정적인 영향을 줄 수 있을뿐만 아니라 장기적으로 인구통계학적 행동에도 영향을 미칠 가능성이 존재한다. 따라서 본 연구는 산업용 로봇의 도입이 고용과 결혼 및 출산에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. Bartik 도구변수를 활용하여 분석한 결과, 로봇침투도의 표준편차가 1만큼 증가할 때, 전체 종사자수 증가율은 13.5%, 남성 종사자수 증가율은 21% 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 여성 종사자수 증가율에는 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타나 로봇의 도입이 여성보다는 남성에게 크고 부정적인 영향을 미침을 확인하였다. 또한, 로봇침투도의 표준편차가 1만큼 증가했을 때, 혼인율은 5.5%, 출산율은 2.3% 감소하는 것을 발견하였다. 이미 로봇밀도 1,2위를 다투고 심각한 저출산 문제를 안고 있는 국내에서 로봇의 도입이 고용과 결혼 및 출산에 부정적인 영향이 있음을 발견하여 이를 해결하기 위한 방안을 마련하는 것이 중요함을 시사한다.|The supply of robots has been increasing rapidly in Korea, which has the world’s highest robot density as of 2020. There are growing concerns that industrial robots could have a negative impact on employment and induce long-term changes in demographic behavior beyond employment problems. Therefore, this study analyzed the impact of industrial robots on employment, marriage, and fertility. According to the analysis using the Bartik instrument, when the standard deviation of robot penetration increases by 1, the increase rate of the total number of workers decreased by 13.5% and the increase rate of the number of male workers decreased by 21%, but it was confirmed that the increase in robots had a greater and negative effect on male than female. In addition, when the standard deviation of robot penetration increased by 1, it was found that the marriage rate decreased by 5.5% and the fertility rate decreased by 2.3%. It will be important to develop the policies that address the negative impact of robots on employment, marriage, and fertility in Korea, which has the lowest fertility in the world.
