청년 관광객의 친환경 규범이 관광지에서의 친환경 행동에 미치는 영향 연구

Abstract

이 연구는 세계관광 시장에서 빠르게 성장하고 그들만의 독특한 문화를 형성하는 청년 관광객을 대상으로 관광목적지를 여행하는 동안 청년 관광객의 친환경 규범이 친환경 행동 의도 및 친환경 행동에 미치는 영향을 검증해 보고자 하였다. 이 연구 수행을 위해 검증된 규범 활성화 모델(NAM)과 계획 행동이론(TPB)을 통합 적용하여 변수들을 제시하였으며, 표본에 대한 설문은 온라인 설문조사를 통해 최근 2년 이내에 국내 및 해외 관광 경험이 있는 청년을 대상으로 하였다. 표본은 최종적으로 294개 응답이 분석에 사용되었다. 구조방정식을 통해 제시된 변수들의 영향 관계를 검증하였으며, 분석 결과 청년 관광객의 환경문제 인식, 환경 결과 인식, 주관적 규범은 개인 환경 규범에 유의한 영향을 미쳤으나, 지각된 행동 통제는 개인 환경 규범에 유의한 영향이 검증되지 않았다. 청년 관광객의 개인 환경 규범과 친환경 행동 의도, 친환경 행동 간의 관계에서는 모두 유의한 영향 관계를 형성하는 것으로 나타났다. 개인 환경 규범과 친환경 행동 의도의 간접효과 검증에서는 부분적으로 간접효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 청년 관광객은 환경에 대한 교육 및 인식이 높을수록 보다 친환경적 행동을 보였으며, 여행 중 다양한 경험을 즐기는 특성으로 인해 정보 및 지식이 부족한 상황에서는 지각된 행동 통제감이 상대적으로 낮아질 수 있다. 따라서 관광지 관리자는 지역 관광지 환경 보존을 위해 매체나 교육 프로그램을 적극적으로 활용하여 청년 관광객의 개인 환경 규범을 고취하고 이를 토대로 관광지에서의 쓰레기 배출량을 줄이고 대중교통을 이용하는 것과 같은 친환경 행동 의도 및 행동을 끌어내야 한다는 시사점을 제시하였다. Youth tourism differentiates itself from the concept of traditional tourism by the distinctive profile of its participants. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of ecological norms on youth traveler's ecological behavior intention and pro-environmental behavior while traveling to tourist destinations. An online survey was conducted for youth travelers who visited tourist destination within the last two years. The verified norm activation model (NAM) and the theory of planned behavior(TPB) were used to explain interrelationships among the variables. Structural equation modeling was utilized for data analysis. The findings show that youth traveler's perceptions of ecological problems, awareness of consequence, and subjective norms had a significant effect on the personal ecological norms; however, perceived behavioral control did not have a significant effect. The relationship between youth traveler's personal ecological norm, ecological behavior intention, and pro-environmental behaviors all formed a significant influence. Tourism managers should elicit youth traveler’s ecological behavior intentions to improve personal ecological norms and preserve the environment of local tourist attractions. This study contributes to destination researchers’ and practitioners’ understanding of youth traveler pro-environmental behavior in the youth tourism context.
