地籍原圖와 GIS를 활용한 신라 王都 街路 체계의 복원

Abstract

본고에서는 GIS 프로그램을 활용하여 근대 초에 만들어진 지적원도와 발굴조사 자료를 바탕으로신라 왕도의 가로 체계를 복원하는 방법에 대해서 논의하고, 시계열적 복원을 시도해 보았다. 지적원도에 담긴 근대 초 경주의 도로들은 발굴조사 자료와 대조해 보았을 때 완전하지는 않지만 신라 왕도의 가로 체계를 대체로 반영하고 있는 것으로 보인다. 향후 발굴조사 자료를 축적하고 도로에 고고학적으로 파악된 시기 값을 부여한다면 가로 체계를 시계열적으로 복원할 수 있을 것이다. 坊 구획에 대한 기존 연구에 의하면 경주의 도로들은 구역에 따라 중심축이 다르게 나타나는데, 이번 검토에서도그것을 확인할 수 있었으며 그 중 특히 몇몇 직선대로의 존재가 주목되었다. 이러한 직선대로는 그것과 평행하거나 직교하는 도로들의 구획 기준이 되었을 것이며, 기존 시가와 신시가를 구분하는 역할도 한 것으로 추정된다. 신라 왕도는 자연적으로 형성되다가 특정 시기에 도시 계획이 적용되었는데, 6세기 중엽 이후 월성 동편 남북대로(현 임해로)를 개설하고 이를 기준으로 황룡사 주변을 구획했으며, 삼국 통일 후에는 현 원효로를 기준으로 그 이북 지역을 구획한 것으로 파악하였다.

In this paper, it was discussed how to restore the street system of Silla’s capital, Wangdo (王都) using the GIS program based on the original cadastral map produced in the early modern times and the excavation data. The roads of Gyeongju in the original cadastral map, which are not perfect when compared with the excavation data, are thought to generally reflect the street system of Silla’s capital. It will be possible to restore the street system in time series by supplementing the excavation data and assigning the archaeologically identified time value. The grid pattern roads of Gyeongju are known to have two different directions depending on the area, among which some wide and long roads have been noted. It is thought that such a straight road functioned as the base line dividing the new district and the border between old and new. In the beginning, Silla’s capital was formed naturally, and at a specific time, urban planning was applied. In the middle of the 6th century, the north-south boulevard (now Imhae-ro road) which is in the east of Wolseong was established and Hwangryongsa district was divided by the roads which are parallel or perpendicular to the boulevard. After the unification of the Three Kingdoms, the current Wonhyo-ro road established and Gyeongju town wall district was divided at last.
