The Impact of RMB Exchange Rate Fluctuation on Sino-Korea Trade

Abstract

This paper analyzes the impact of RMB exchange rate fluctuation on Sino- Korea trade based on quarterly data from 2005 to 2021. This paper will firstly introduce the concept of exchange rate and the theory of exchange rate system, investigate the changes in China's exchange rate regime, exchange rate fluctuation trends, and China-Korea trade conditions, and conduct an empirical analysis by using VAR model. Then, this paper will use the granger causality test to examine the causality between variables. In addition, this paper will estimate the short-term impact of RMB exchange rate fluctuation on Sino-Korea trade through the impulse response analysis method. Finally, this paper will discuss the proportion of influence of every variable on China’s exports and imports based on the variance decomposition analysis. The results of the VAR model show that the increase in the real effective exchange rate, that is, the depreciation of RMB, is related to the increase in exports to Korea and the decrease in imports from Korea.|본 논문은 2005년부터 2021년까지의 분기별 데이터를 바탕으로 인민폐 환 율 변동이 한중 무역에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 본문은 우선 환율의 개념 과 환율체계 이론을 소개하고, 중국의 환율체제의 변천, 환율변동의 동향, 한 중 무역상황 등을 조사한 뒤에 VAR 모델을 활용한 실증분석을 진행할 예정이 다. 다음에 granger 인과 검정을 사용하여 변수 간의 인과 관계를 조사할 것 이다. 또한 충격반응 함수를 통해 인민폐 환율 변동이 한중 무역에 미치는 단 기적인 영향 추세를 볼 것이다. 마지막으로, 본문은 분산 분석을 바탕으로 모 든 변수가 중국의 대한 수출입에 미치는 영향 비율에 대해 논의할 것이다. 실 질실효환율 상승, 즉 위안화 가치 하락이 대한 수출 증가 및 수입 감소와 관 련이 있다는 VAR 모델 결과가 나왔습니다.
