서양 음악 어법을 활용한 거문고 연주법 확장 연구와 창작음악에서의 적용 방안 연구

Abstract

Geomungo has many distinctive features from other instruments, such as six strings, the playing method using suldae, the tone that varies depending on the fret-mode and technique, and the effect that can be obtained from Daemo covered with leather and the wooden part. It was in the first half of the 20th century that the concept of composition came into Korean music. It's not that long ago. Therefore, the research on musical instruments and playing methods was relatively insufficient compared to Western music. If the scope of the research is specified as one instrument, it becomes more difficult to find. The introduction discusses the concept of composition and the method of performing that appear differently in Western and Korean music. After that, it raises questions about whether it would be appropriate to apply the approach with "sound itself" in Western music to Korean musical instruments that have developed around melody. Chapter 1 of the body examines the history, characteristics, and playing methods by limiting the scope of research to Geomungo among Korean instruments. Chapter 2 analyzes the works Warped Time (2020) and Geolteodeumjil:Sat (2021) composed by this researcher, Jang Eunchong, to find out the actual utilization of Geomungo in creative music. In the conclusion, based on the different development aspects of Korean and Western music as above, the need to expand the research direction of Korean music and study it from various angles is confirmed. Therefore, it is necessary to expand the perspective from the melody-side approach to the "sound itself" and record this research process systematically and in detail so that performers and composers can make use of it. All of these processes will eventually create new uses of Korean instruments, including Geomungo studied in this paper, leading to the development of Korean music and composers. | 6개의 현, 술대를 이용한 연주 방식, 같은 음정이지만 괘법과 주법에 따라 달라지는 음색, 가죽 부분으로 덧대어져 있는 대모 부분과 나무 부분에서 얻을 수 있는 효과 등 거문고는 다른 악기와 구별된 특징이 많다. 한국 음악에 ‘작곡’의 개념이 들어온 것은 20세기 전반으로, 그 역사는 길지 않다. 따라서 악기나 그 주법에 관한 연구 자료, 창작음악의 작품 개수가 서양 음악에 비해 상대적으로 많지 않은 편이다. 한국 악기 전반이 아닌 한 가지 악기로 특정하면 더 적다고 볼 수 있다. 이 논문의 서론에서는 서양 음악과 한국 음악에서의 작곡 개념과 연주 방식의 차이를 논하고 있다. 이후 기존에 선율 중심으로 발전해 온 한국 음악의 악기로 서양 음악에서 논의되어 온 ‘소리 자체’로서의 접근 방식을 적용하는 것이 적합할지에 대한 의문을 제기한다. 본론 제1장에서는 한국 악기 중 거문고로 연구 범위를 한정하여 거문고의 역사와 특징, 연주법을 살펴본다. 본론 제2장에서는 본 연구자인 장은총 작곡가의 <Warped Time> for Geomungo(2020)와 <걸터듬질:샅[Geolteodeumjil:Sat]> for Violin and Geomungo(2021)를 분석하여 창작음악에서의 거문고 실제 활용도에 대해 알아본다. 마지막으로 결론에서는 위에서 살펴본 것과 같이 한국 음악과 서양 음악의 상이한 발전 양상을 바탕으로 한국 음악의 연구 범위를 확장하여 다각도로 연구해야 할 필요성을 제기한다. 한국의 악기를 선율적 접근의 작곡 방식에서 서양 음악에서의 ‘소리 자체’로서의 관점으로 그 범위를 넓히고, 이 연구 과정을 세세히 기록하여 연주자와 작곡가가 활용할 수 있도록 체계화하여야 한다. 이러한 과정들이 본 논문에서 연구한 거문고를 비롯하여 한국 악기의 새로운 쓰임을 만들어나가 한국의 음악, 한국 작곡가의 발전을 이끌어낼 것이다.
