한일 근대어 자료로서의 『いろは引朝鮮語案內』

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to observe the content and background of the book Irohabiki Chosengo Annai(いろは引朝鮮語案內), which was published in Japan in 1904. This study considers the book to be valuable research material in regards to both the Korean and Japanese languages. This book shows its uniqueness in that Korean is written in katakana (片仮 名) rather than Hangul. Therefore, in order to properly use this book as research material, it seems that first of all it is necessary to understand the principle of the katakana notation method for the Korean language that is used in this book. An approach to deciphering the Korean katakana text is essential to this study. Through the research of this study, it was found that the Korean katakana notation in this book provided valuable information in terms of historical Korean phonology and vocabulary. Additionally, the Japanese language in this book reflects the characteristics of modern Japanese that was used during the Meiji (明治) period, and it can be used as a resource to investigate the various problems faced in both the grammatical and lexicological aspects of the period.

본고는 1904년에 일본에서 간행된 한국어 학습서 『いろは引朝鮮語案内』의 제작 배경과 근 대 일본어와 한국어 연구의 입장에서 본 학습서가 가지는 가치를 생각해보고자 한 것이다. 본서는 한국어를 가타카나로 표기하고 있다는 점에서 독특한 개성을 보여주고 있다. 따라 서 언어자료로서 본서를 활용하기 위해서는 먼저 본서의 한국어에 대한 가타카나 표기 방식 의 원리를 이해하고 한국어 가타카나문의 해독을 위한 접근이 우선적으로 필요할 것으로 보인다. 본고에서는 한국어 단어에 대한 가타카나 표기를 중심으로 한국어의 음운사와 어휘사적 측면에서 귀중한 정보를 제공해 줄 수 있는 자료적인 가치를 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 본서의 일본어는 메이지(明治)기 근대 일본어의 특징을 반영하고 있으며 문법과 어휘, 특히 한자어를 중심으로 다양한 문제를 제기할 수 있는 자료로서 향후 활용 가능할 것으로 생각된다.
