- Abstract
on quality of life, and its impact on it from different aspects
including gender, occupational activities, cohabitation, and age. To
this end, an online survey consists of a modified Illness Aattitude
Scale (IAS) and Quality of Life scale (QoL) was conducted targeting
adults aged 19 and above. The analysis derives from 630 respondents who
tested negative for COVID-19 or never got infected, and it led to the
following results. First, exploratory factor analysis showed that the
validity and reliability value of the tool remained at an appropriate
level. Second, among respondents, women, those engaging in professional
activities, those living with cohabitants and middle-aged respondents
showed negative attitudes toward COVID-19 while their quality of life
dropped even further. Third, the illness attitude caused by COVID-19
was statically correlated with quality of life, explaining it by
approximately 18.8%. Also, the level of impact from the illness
attitude was different for each subcategory under quality of life.
Fourth, the illness attitude caused by COVID-19 and its impact on
quality of life showed that there is an interaction effect based on
ages. Based on these results, this study sought directions to provide
more realistic intervention methods for individuals who remain
vulnerable to the pandemic, and how individuals and societies alike can
prepare for post-pandemic era by identifying pain points.
