Abstract
|The 21st century is the information age, and the speed of technological development is rapidly accelerating regardless of the field. In this social background, devices for exchanging large amounts of high-quality information faster are also rapidly developing. One of the devices, the display device, has a shorter life cycle since the 2000s, and related research and development is being actively conducted to advance the emergence of next-generation displays as quickly as possible. In 2010, a full-scale product release using organic light-emitting diode (OLED) was launched, and the development of next-generation display devices that followed was also paralleled. Quantum dots (QD) displays are attracting attention as display devices that will lead the next generation of OLEDs. A quantum dot display is a very small particle in which a semiconductor crystal has a size of several nm, and its electrical and optical properties vary according to the zero size. Unlike OLED displays, which have inherent limitations of organic materials, quantum dot displays can be relatively free from lifespan and can be applied to various types of displays, such as flexible and rollable displays, like OLED displays. Among them, QD-OLED is a combination of conventional OLED and quantum dots, and is a display that uses blue OLED as a backlight to excite a color conversion layer composed of quantum dots and utilize it as a pixel light source. Although it boasts a wider color gamut and color purity than OLED displays, the blue light leakage phenomenon in which the light from the blue OLED leaks out of the device and mixes with the pixel light has not been resolved yet. Because of these problems, QD-OLED is an unfavorable factor in color expression, which is the strength of quantum dots, so it can be said that it is a problem that must be solved. To solve this problem, this paper proposes the application and improved structure of a Distributed Bragg reflector mainly used to improve light efficiency in inorganic LEDs. Dispersion Bragg reflector is a kind of multi-layer thin film mirror, and its strength is that it can freely set reflectance and reflectance band according to the refractive index and thickness of the material that makes up it. Based on the characteristics of such a dispersed Bragg reflector, it was confirmed that it was effective in preventing blue light leakage by applying it to QD-OLED. In addition, it was confirmed how much the color gamut expansion of the device, which was the ultimate goal, occurred at the same time as the blue light leakage phenomenon was reduced. It is expected to present the possibility of solving the blue light leakage phenomenon, which has been a difficult problem in the development of QD-OLED devices in the future.
