dc.description.abstract | In general, under the concept o f unit load, Automated Storage/Retrieval Systems (AS/RS) have the rack of equal sized cells. However, they arc inadequate and inefficient meeting the various sizes o f customers' demands in today's business environment. Higher utilization and flexibility o f warehouse storage can be achieved by using AS/RS with the rack o f modularized cell. In this paper, the model o f AS/RS with the rack o f modularized cell is proposed, and the effectiveness o f proposed model is presented by way o f numerical examples. The model developed in this research, as one type o f AS/RS that is more flexible to the size and has higher space utilization than those oi' existing rack structure, could e very useful for the storage of heterogeneous unit load sizes. | en_US |
