- Abstract
- In this paper, we propose a slotted ALOHA based medium access control protocol for the voice and data integrated WCDMA system. To resolve the bistable problem of the slotted ALOHA, the proposed protocol controls the random access rates according to the characteristics of traffic classes. For this purpose a mathematical model is developed which derives the value of offered load to ensure the maximum throughput. In addition, a correlation between offered load and access rate is derived to apply the proposed stabilization mechanism to the real systems. The experimental results show that the proposed protocol can guarantee the stable operations of real time and non-real time services.
