Abstract
The mixed-media craft art is an area of craft art in which a variety of materials are combined for artistic expression. This area is an aspect of expression derived from non-functional arts which was popular in the 1960s. The techniques of mixed-media craft art comprise collage and assemblage used in the fine art of the early 20th century. In the area of craft art a technique of mixing a variety of textures is called a mixed-media technique. The use of mixed-media can be regarded as a standard by which the subjective artistic expression of artists can be measured. Yet mixed-media technique expresses aesthetic principles of the formative art as a means of message expression as well se the idea of social movement for the recycling of waste articles unintentionally consumed and thrown away. Modern mixed-media craft art minimizes the waste of natural materials with the help of the development of modern scientific technology and opens the possibility for artistic expression by incorporating new artistic materials. In craft art a new perspective on the importance of the environment enables artists to recognize the interconnectedness between patterns of expression and its contents. The articles is designed to explain the developmental process of the reception of mixed-media materials in the modern craft art and its meaning in the social structure. It also explores how the mixed-media craft art can contribute to elaborating the concept of modern craft art in the artistic environment in which fine art and traditional craft art coexist with it.
