Vegetation and the Degree of Green Naturality (DGN) in the surrounding area along the Dong River from Geoun-ri (Yeongwol-eup) to Gwangha-ri (Jeongseon-gun) was investigated. The investigation area consisted of 122 DGN meshes. Among them were 71 meshes in the 8th DGN that occupied 58.2% of the total area and 26 meshes in the 7th DGN occupying 21.3%. Eighty (80%) of the area is composed of secondary vegetation forest. The 14 meshes in 6th DGN (11.5%) and the 11 meshes in the 2nd DGN (9.0%) are also shown in this area. The average DGN, standing crop and net productivity of the area was reputed as 7.02, 766,540 tons, and 80,080 ton/yr respectively. These results suggest that conservation is necessary for many plant habitats in the area.en_US
