Abstract
역할모델의 설정은 자신의 진로개발에 긍정적 효과를 가져다 줄 수 있다. 대학생들의 역할모델을 시계열적 설문조사를 통해 조사한 결과, 역할모델에 가장 큰 영향을 주는 것은 방송매체와 교과서인 것으로 나타났다. 전반적으로 보아 조사대상자들은 역할모델을 자신의 진로와 관계없이 설정하는 성향을 보이고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 우리 나라의 역사적 역할모델의 설정은 일제에 항거한 인물들이 많이 등장하는 등 과거 지향적이고 매스컴의 영향을 많이 받는 것으로 나타났다. 한국의 현존인물에 대해서는 경제적 기여도가 큰 인물이 선정되었고, 특히 새천년과 21세기의 조사에서 이러한 경향이 두드러지게 나타나고 있다. Selecting and benchmarking their role model is important, since it will bring about positive effect in terms of formulation, preparation and achievement of career plan and job search. According to the survey for the 1997-2001 period, although 76-88% of the students surveyed responded that they have their own role modes, the role models do not seem to match students` career. Mass media, especially television appears to influence in selecting role model for college students in Korea. For the historical Korean role models are characterized as persons who fought against Japan, at the same time persons who played in favorite historical TV dramas were selected as role models. However, businessmen were chosen as existing Korean role models. This trend becomes apparent in the period of new millenium and beginning of the 21st century, including persons in the IT industry. This may be explained, although there existed negative views for the businessmen, students evaluated economic contribution as well as employment generation in the period of economic hardship since the IMF bailout. For worldwide role models, we observe many American male and female role models were chosen, especially for the existing role models. The trends become more significant in the beginning of the 21st century. We also conjecture students do not have enough information for role models, especially for the historical Korean female role model and Korean students tend to apply penalty system rather than merit system in evacuating and selecting historical Korea role model. Considering the fact that students do not newspapers and books other than testbooks, it is desirable to introduce role models in the textbooks for primary/middle/high school. Also, an increasing concern should be shed in teaching and providing more concerning role model at home, formal schooling including college education and mass media, especially in the newspapers.
