Abstract
Electrokinetic remediation of phenol that is often encountered in ground water and soil as an hydrophilic organic contaminant was studied for electrokinetic remediation phenomena and removal efficiency with time. According to remediation test, removal efficiency and electrokinetic phenomena varied with time and electroosmosis. Soil was acidified to 0.9 point normalized distance from anode with time and electroosmosis. After treatment, water content varied a little. However, normalized water concentration to initial water content showed that water content increasement zone was moved to cathode region and converged to 0.7 point normalized distance from anode after 23 days. Removal efficiency of phenol was over 90% by 1 pore volume of electroosmosis
