Abstract

We Koreans had seen rapid growth and change of general hopitals for 30years, New transformation was needed by hospitals established in 1970's and 1980's to get over buildings' senescence, discomfortability and to adapt to the arrival of new tele-communication systems. To suggest the basic data needen in re-modelling of ward department in hospital architecture, we investigated that how hospital constructions solved archtectural problem in each decades of 1970's, 1980's 1990's and '2000's. And basic requirements to be adapted to the growth and changes of the established hopitals were also grasped.
