The degradation of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) in supercritical fluid was studied with a batch reactor to understand the effects of the reaction temperature, pressure and the reaction time. Supercritical tetrahydrofuran (THF) and toluene were employed to investigate the influences according to the variety of supercritical fluids. The liquid products obtained from degradation of PMMA were identified by GC-MS. The degradation characteristics of PMMA in supercritical fluid were dissimilar to those of pyrolysis, and affected by solvents used as supercritical fluids.
