Abstract
Mechanisms of fracture behavior around a crack tip in the adhesive layer of an adhesive joint are important for understanding and thereafter providing the structural integrity. A study was performed using rubber-modified epoxy resin as an adhesive. It was shown that fracture toughness of an adhesive joint is significantly influenced by different bond thicknesses on the basis of the combination behavior of the interface damage zone and the damage zone ahead of a crack tip.
