김수영 시에 나타난 여성 인물 양상 연구

Abstract

본고에서는 김수영의 시에 나타나는 여성 인물 양상을 중심으로 살펴보았다. 여기서 김수영의 문학에 보여 지는 여성의 양상을 중심으로 그의 작품을 재해석 하고자 하는 시도는 이전까지의 김수영 문학에 내린 부정적 평가를 거부하는 것이 아니다. 김수영 작품의 분석과 평가에서 만들어지는 충돌을 검토하여 김수영의 시에 나타난 여성 인물 유형에 대한 분석을 통해 전체 시세계에서 그것이 가진 의미와 시사적 의의를 밝히고자 하였다. 먼저, 김수영의 시에서 화자와 여성의 관계 면에서 갖는 의미를 성별은 동일하지만 가정과 외부에서 각각 다른 명칭으로 어떤 의미를 주는지 살펴보고자 한다. 이와 더불어 김수영이 여성을 대하는 자세와 여성에 대한 인식이 내재된 일상적인 산문 등을 여러 방면으로 자세하게 살펴봄으로써 여성과 관련된 부정적 시어들의 내포된 의미를 함께 살펴보았다. 여기서 중점으로 삼고자 하는 문제는 일차적으로 김수영의 시 속에 드러나는 여성을 낮추어 표현한 것은 의도적이었으며 한쪽으로 치우쳐진 대상으로 볼 수 없다는 것이다. 더 나아가 궁극적으로 김수영의 시에 나타난 여성 인물 유형에 대한 분석을 통해 김수영 전체 시세계에서 그것이 가진 의미, 시사적 의의를 밝히는 것이 본 연구의 핵심이다. 따라서 여성을 유형화한 부분을 세밀하게 접근할 때, 권위의 대상, 위반의 대상, 동경의 대상, 연민의 대상으로 분류할 수 있으며 이를 통해 의미를 도출할 수 있다. 이와 같이 여성의 양상을 분류할 수 있다는 것은 김수영이 여성을 단일하게 바라보고 있는 것이 아니라 대상에 따라 차이가 있음을 보여준다. 이는 곧 여성을 비하하고자 함이 아닌 오히려 남성들이 문제 삼지 않았던 여성들의 위치를 상기시켜준다고 말할 수 있다. 또한 자기 자신을 비판적인 시각으로 냉철하게 바라보는 것을 통해 가정생활과 지식인, 예술인으로서 삶을 솔직하게 풀어 나감으로써 넓은 시각으로 자기 폭로를 했음을 확인할 수 있다. 첫째, ‘아내’와‘여편네’는 모두 같은 대상을 지칭하고 있으나‘아내’는 권위의 대상으로서 여성은 시적 화자를 억압하는 요소라고 볼 수 있다. 둘째, 위반의 대상으로서‘여편네’는‘아내로 지칭 했을 때 보다 남성의 고정적이지 못한 경제적 위치가 훨씬 직접 드러난다. 이때 권위의 대상과 위반의 대상이 함께 고려되어야 할 것은 김수영의 핵심인‘자유’이다. ‘생활’이라는 공간속에 여성이라는‘억압’속에서 김수영의‘설움’이 발산되고 그것이 곧 ‘자유’로 나아갈 수 있게 만드는 기저라 할 수 있다. 셋째, 김수영은 다른 여성의 경제적 요구 충족과 문화적 교류가 가능한 상류층 여성에게 대리 만족을 느꼈으며 한편으로는 여성을 속물로 보기도 한다. 이는 곧 김수영 시에서 끊임없이 반복되는 운동성을 보여준다. 넷째, 도시의 문명은 화려한 반면 사회 저층에서 힘든 삶을 살아가는 여성들의 일상을 통해 자신의 처지와 같은 모습을 발견하고 이해하게 된다. 이는 ‘여성’이라는 타자와의 관계의 실패 속에서 형성되는 적대감이 아닌 자기반성을 통한 주체로의 회귀에 있다. 이와 같이 김수영을 작품에 집중시킬 수 있는 힘은 여성에게 발견된 것이라고 할 수 있다. 김수영 시에서 여성에 대한 평가는 다양한 시각으로 여과 없이 현실을 알려주었다. 김수영이 보여준 사랑과 자유는 그의 내면을 드러내는 밑바탕이 되었다. 냉철하게 현실을 바라보며 꾸밈없는 생활의 고백은 자본주의 사회 안에서 자신뿐만 아니라 주위의 모든 존재를 재확인하며 물질적 생성이 아닌 문화 생산 활동으로 자신을 확인했다.

The attempt to reinterpret Kim's works, focusing on the aspects of women in literature, does not deny the negative assessments he has been given before. I sought to reveal the significance and meaning from his poems describing types of female characters by contemplating on conflict triggered by the analysis and appraisals to his. First of all, intents of his poems in terms of the relationship between the poetic narrator and feminie gender, both as family and social member, where those environments grant different meanings, was inside the scope. In addition, I found out implication of negative poetic dictions related to female, by taking a closer look at Kim Soo-young's attitude toward women and prose with immanent understanding of women. The problem that I want to emphasize here is that it was explicitly intentional to portray a woman in his poetry as a downrated and biased object. Ultimately, the core of this study is to reveal the meaning in current affairs and implications of his poetry through an analysis of the types of female figures shown in her poems. When approached in more detail, female characters in her works can be classified as targets in the assertion of authority, violation, sympathy, and hanker. To classify women's appearances suggests that Kim does not view a woman as a single object but as differentiated depending on target. It is not intended to disparage women, but rather to remind readers of the statures of women that men did not take profound issue with. Also, by looking at himself with a critical view, the fact that he made a wide-ranging revelation by honestly solving his family life, intellectuals, and life as an artist is confirmed. First, 'Anae'('wife') and 'Yeopyeonnae'('henpecking wife') both refer to the identical object, but 'wife' can be assumed as an authoritative factor that suppresses poetic speakers. Second, as the object of violation, the "Yeopyeonnae" is much more explicitly revealing to men's unstable economic status than when referred to as a "wife." Then, It is the subject of both authority and violation that should be considered together in her poetry: "Freedom," the core of his values. In the literal space of "life," Kim Soo-young's "grief" is released under the expression, "suppression" of women, which could possibly be the bedrock for moving on to "freedom." Third, Kim Soo-young felt vicarious satisfaction with upper-class women who could meet the economic needs of women and interact with them through cultural activities other than himself. This phase is constantly reiterated in his poems. Fourth, behind the glamour of the city, watching the daily lives of women living hard lives in the lower classes, he found his own situations from their livelihoods and understands their realities. It is in the return to the subjective identity through self-reflection, not hostility formed by failing relationship with others, called "women". As such, the potent for Kim to focus on his work activity could be seen as formed in observation of the inequal gender. In his poetic world, the evaluation of women revealed the reality with no filtration, leveraging diversified perspectives. The love and freedom shown by Kim make his inner self, intrinsic ego open in his works. Looking soberly at reality, he confesses of unadorned life, reaffirming not only himself but all around him within a capitalist society, with cultural production activities, but not material creation. Kim Soo-young must be credited with opening the door for us to look at phenomena in this society we dwell together from a novel perspective.
