월남시인과 시조시인

Abstract

2001년부터 시작된 근대문학 작가 탄생 100주년 행사는 이제 근대문학의 성좌들을 학문적, 대중적으로 발굴하고 해석하고 알리는 문학사적 검토의 관행이 된 감이 있다. 처음부터 월북작가들은 빈번하게 그 연구 대상이 되었다. 하지만 앞으로 월북작가들은 거의 남아 있지 않고, 월남작가들은 차례차례 그 범위를 한동안 넓혀갈 것이다. 이는 월북작가들이 대개 당시 이미 중진 내지는 중견들로 확고한 위상을 가졌던 반면, 월남작가들 가운데는 월남한 후에 비로소 문학을 시작한 경우가 많았기 때문이다. 월남시인들의 존재는 분단 직전 북한의 상황을 살필 수 있는 중요한 인자이자, 지금도 분단을 안고 있는 우리를 돌아볼 수 있는 성찰적 자료가 되기에 족하다. 따라서 우리는 전후시단의 재편 과정에서 월남시인들이 차지하는 몫을 객관화하여 문학사의 중요 범주로 정립해가야 한다. 월북시인 위주로 한국문학의 결여태를 조명해온 그간 흐름을 월남시인과의 조회를 통해 균형을 잡는 쪽으로 보완해야 할 것이다. 한국 전후시단의 재편 과정은 거기서 새로운 역학을 찾을 수 있을 것이다. 올해 탄생 100주년을 맞는 김종문은 건국 이래 최초의 장군 시인으로 유명하다. 첫 시집 이후 선명한 이미지즘의 언어를 극단까지 밀어붙였으며 전쟁의 폐허 속에서 어김없이 살아나는 역설의 의지를 각인하였다. 숱한 기호와 도상을 통해 현대인의 불안 심리를 드러낸 김종문은 줄곧 그만의 모더니즘을 추구하였다. 구상은 해방 후 함남 원산에서 동인지 󰡔응향󰡕에 참여하여 필화사건을 겪고 월남하여 분단 반세기 동안 줄곧 대표적 월남시인으로 왕성한 활동을 하였다. 그의 시적 주제는 두 가지로 요약할 수 있는데, 하나가 현실에 대한 대응과 그에 대한 역사의식이었다면, 다른 하나는 가톨릭적 감각에 바탕을 둔 인간 구원의 추구였다고 할 수 있다. 그런가 하면 시조시인 정완영은 자연 형상을 포착하고 담아내는 데 매우 깊은 안목과 솜씨를 보여주었다. 높은 예술성과 함께 시조의 문학적 위상을 매우 높인 분으로 유명하다. 탄생 100주년을 맞아 우리는 세 분의 문학적 궤적을 재구하는 동시에, 해방 후 활동한 월남시인과 시조시인에 대한 문학사적 탐구를 지속해가야 할 것이다. The event for commemorating writers’ centennial anniversary of birth since 2001 has become a practice in which researchers unearth, interpret and report constellations of modern literature to the public. From the beginning, writers who defected to North Korea frequently became the object of researches, however, there are not many of them left for research. For a while, writers who defected from North Korea will become the object of research more frequently. This is because writers who defected to North Korea had a firm status as important figures but many writers who defected from North Korea became a writer after they settled down in South Korea. The existence of writers who defected from North Korea is an important factors with which we could examine the literary society of North Korea and materials for our introspection. Therefore, it is needed to objectify the portion of poets who defected from North Korea and put them into the major category of the literary history during the process of reorganizing the poetical circles of the postwar period. By including poets who defected from North Korea, we need to complement the balance of research in which the lacks of Korean literature was examined with focus on poets who defected to North Korea. The reorganization process of the postwar poetical circle will be able to find a new dynamic from this. Kim, Jongmoon, whose centennial anniversary of birth falls on this year is famous as a poet of military general since the foundation of South Korea. Since his first collection of poems, he pushed vivid language of imagism to the extreme and carved a paradoxical will to survive in ruins of the war without fail. He also revealed anxieties of modern people through abundant signs and icons and seeked for his own modernism. Ku, Sang joined the literary coterie magazine Eunghyang(응향) at Wonsan in Hamnam and defected from North Korea after experiencing a serious slip of the pen and energetically played his role as a representative poets who defected from North Korea for half a century since the division. His poetic subjects could be divided into two; one is a respond to reality and historical awareness on it, the other is the seek for human salvation based on Catholic sense. Sijo poet Jeong, Wanyoung showed his talent and perspective of grasping and presenting natural phenomenon. He raised the status of Sijo very high and is well-known for high level of artistic qualities. It is necessary to reconstruct the literary traces to commemorate their centennial anniversary of birth and continue the research on poets who defected from North Korea and Sijo poets who played active roles after the liberation.
