휴대폰의 효율적인 영문자 메시지 입력을 위한 키 배열 그룹핑에 관한 연구 접근

Abstract

무선 통신망의 급속한 성장에 힘입어 현재 우리의 생활에서 휴대폰은 없어서는 안 될 중요한 위치에 자리 잡게 되었다. 휴대폰의 기본 기능인 전화 걸기, 받기의 기능 외에 현재 가장 많이 사용하는 주요기능은 문자 메시지 기능이라고 할 수 있다. 그러나 이동전화기를 사용하면서 제한된 인터페이스와 작은 디스플레이 화면, 한정된 버튼들로 인하여 사용자가 문자 입력을 하는 과정 중에 큰 어려움이 있다. 특히 영문의 경우 일괄적이고 획일적인 알파벳순의 배열로 되어 있어 메시지를 입력하는 과정에서 여러 가지 오류를 범하게 되므로 사용성에 대한 체계적인 연구와 사용자 중심의 디자인에 대한 필요성이 제기되고 있다. 자음 모음이 적절히 배열되어 있는 한글 입력의 경우처럼 영문 입력의 경우에도 사용자의 손놀림에 유효적절한 재배치가 필요하다.본 연구는 휴대폰의 인터페이스 디자인에 대해 고찰하고, 영문 메시지 입력을 위한 철자상의 조합구조를 파악하여 단어 배열의 법칙에 따른 효율적인 영문 키 배열을 모색하는데 목적이 있다. 따라서 Usability 관점에서 휴대폰의 영문자 메시지 입력을 위한 키 배열의 직관적이고 효과적이면서도 향후 휴대폰 개발의 Guide line으로 활용할 수 있는 Keypad Interface의 개선점을 제안한다. Due to the rapid growth of wireless network, mobile phones have become essential items in our lives. As well as the most basic functions, calling and receiving, text messaging serves as the central function of mobile phones. However, users face great difficulties in sending text messages due to limited, interface, small display screens and small number of keys. The users encounter difficulties especially when sending english texts, and therefore the need for more research and more user-friendly layout of keys are in demand. Like the Korean keys where the consonants are efficiently placed, alphabets should also be rearranged. This research seeks to find the most efficient key placing, through studying the interface design and structure of the keys. Therefore I would like to suggest the improvements that could be made to the keypad interface so that it could serve as a guideline for the future phones.
