안느 테라사 드 케이르스마커(Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker) 작품에 나타난 미니멀리즘에 관한 연구

Abstract

제 2차 세계대전 이후 미국의 예술전반은 모더니즘을 부정하고 표현형식을 탈피하는 실험의식이 강한 포스트모더니즘이 주를 이루기 시작했다. 이시기에 무용에서도 마찬가지로 무용 본질에 대한 접근으로 다양한 표현이 실험적으로 활발하게 이루어져 초기의 양식을 거부하고, 포스트모더니즘은 나아가 포스트모던 댄스를 탄생시키면서 미니멀리즘이라는 방법론이 제시 되었다. 미니멀리즘은 무용에서 형성되기 전에 미술을 중심으로 시작하여 예술전반에 모든 분야에 걸쳐 한 시대에 풍미했던 예술사조이다. 모든 예술분야에 나타나는 미니멀리즘 특성으로 예술상의 자기표현을 최소한도로 억제하는 것으로 극히 단순한 형태를 지니며 상징적인 표현을 거부함으로써 최소한의 것들로 최대한의 효과를 만든다. 미니멀 방법을 통해 무용은 신체 움직임을 중심으로 창작되어 많은 요소들을 부정하고, 제거, 축소하여 신체의 움직임이라는 본질적인 문제에 접근하여 독립성을 유지하며 무용의 경향을 확립시키면서 단순성, 연속성과 반복성을 다루고, 일상생활의 수용과 무용외적인 요소들을 작품 속에 다루었다. 본 논문은 이러한 관점에서 다양성을 가진 미니멀리즘의 예술적 특성을 이해하기 위해서 예술이론을 정리하고, 타 예술분야에서의 건축, 패션, 음악의 미니멀리즘적 특성이 어떻게 구현되었는지 분석하고 살펴봄으로써 전반적으로 예술분야의 미니멀리즘을 이해하고자 한다. 또한 무용에서의 미니멀리즘 특성을 이해하기 위해 이론적 특성을 알아본 후, 미니멀리즘을 대표하는 안무가 안느 테레사 드 케이르스마커(Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker)의 작품분석을 바탕으로 미니멀리즘적 특성을 살펴보았다. 따라서 그녀의 작품 <Rosas danst Rosas>을 통해 미니멀리스트 댄스가 어떻게 표현되었는지 분석하여 무용 본질에 대한 신체 움직임의 다양한 안무방법으로 그 요소들을 밝히고자 한다.; Since the World War II, the US arts began to negate modernism and instead, pursued the post-modernism characterized by an experimental spirit of escaping from expression forms. During this period, the dance circle began to experiment diverse expressions with an approach to essence of dance, denying the earlier forms, giving birth to the so-called post-modern dance and suggesting the methodology, 'minimalism'. Minimalism was a current of arts, which started from fine art before dance to prevail across various genres of arts. The common characteristics of minimalism in all genres of arts was an attempt to control self-expressions of arts as little as possible, so minimalism had simple forms, refusing any symbolic expression and using the minimum sources for maximum effects. Through minimalism, dance negated, removed or diminished various elements, focusing only on body movements, to approach the essential topic or physical movements and thereby, maintained its independent status and establishes its tendency and therewith, dealt with simplicity, continuum and repetition and accommodated the ordinary life into itself and handled other elements outside dance. From such a perspective, this study reviewed theories of arts to have a better understanding of such diversified minimalism characteristics and examined how minimalism of music, architecture and fashion was implemented in other genres of arts and thereby, attempted to understand the minimalism in arts at large. In addition, in order to understand the characteristics of minimalism in dance, the researcher reviewed its theories and thereupon, analyzed the minimalist choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker's works focusing on her minimalism dance expressions to determine the characteristics of minimalism dance and thereby, analyzed the minimalism dance elements shown in diverse choreographic dancing movements.
