Abstract

It's intellectual class who can state something to society. So their expression is intellectual, logical and very confidential. The author who puts mess against society where is to maintain the order of invisible suppression, the editor who can state with an author only, and the doctor of medicine who communicates with society by medical treatment, all of the three make detail. This novel based on these contents, is framed precisely. Because it's structure is multiple. We can read three frame in this full story. Although multiple sturcture is liable to droop, this novel never lose strain and tell us the theme of 'communication'. This thesis tried to analyze the communication among chracters in this novel. So to say, this thesis is concerned the gap of communication which is characters experienced. In other words, this thesis interested in the 'wall' which is been among person. And searched the wall's meaning with space and power. Characters are set the wall in front of their space, but they do not avoid to communicate with others. They do not avoid to communicate in front of the wall, but tries to communicate through each ways. Park june tried to communicate with society through writting, the narrator did it through a statement called editing, and doctor Kim did it through medical treatment. But they failed to communicate because of transcendental space problem that are given prior to communication. On the contrary, they got a wound or exprienced explosion of their subjecthood or break of exisitence, and learned irregularity of life. So this novel shows that disillusive plot takes a form of open ending. Stand on that, this thesis divided this novel into 'vertical communication' and 'triple communication'. First, 'vertical communication' invides that 'a crack and catastrophe of communication, the exist way of others sight and self subjecthood, the death and irregularity of exisitence'. And then 'vertical communication' invides that 'ordinary-unordinary and falling, a masochist, a sadist, indifference, the inside and outside, a boundary'. First, Park june failed to communicate because he had been confined by external authority. Then he miss the ordinary life space because failed to indure pain. And doctor Kim failed to communicate because he treated patients only his way, not consierate others. This means that destruction of ralation and fall of exisitance owing to the absence of communication. To summarize this in three ways as follows. It's not caractors communicate in equal positoin, but they try to communicate by stubbornness each of them. In result, they only exprience break each other. It's showed by missed communication and catastrophe in comparion with the first part, and the exist way of others sight and self subjecthood, the death and irregularity of exisitence. Second, this thesis cleared that the way of communication forms sense composition. To begin with, tried to analyze this novel as a concept of ordinary-unordinary, and fall. And then, explained the way of communication by deviding the type of character as a sadist, a masochist, an indifferent man. And examined how characters communicate by dividing inside-outside of space, and a boundary around the narrator. In other words, this thesis searched the meaning of falling, pushed from two space-one is all in the day's space(ordinary) and the other is strange space where is escaped dailiness(unordinary). And claassified characters that a masochist who hurts others, a sadist who gets a wound, a indifferent man who are not concern the meaning of existence. Finally, it regarded the rented room as 'inside' of space, the hospital as 'outside', and the magazine company as 'boundary'. This thesis analyzed the boundary as a stepping stone; it connects inside and outside together.; 사회를 향해 뭔가를 진술할 수 있는 계층은 인텔리 그룹이다. 그래서 그들의 언어는 지적이고, 논리 정연하고, 자신만만하다. 보이지 않는 억압의 질서를 유지하고자 하는 인간 세상에 메스를 들이대는 작가, 작가와 상관관계 속에서만이 자기 진술이 가능한 잡지사 편집자, 그리고 치료 행위를 통해 세상과 소통하는 의학 박사가 디테일을 만들어 나간다. 이런 내용을 기본 내용으로 한 본 텍스트는 짜임이 촘촘한 작품이다. 다중 구조를 취하고 있기 때문이다. 전체적인 이야기 속에 세 개의 액자가 등장한다. 자칫 잘못하면 늘어지기 쉬운 다중 구조를 형성하고 있으면서도 전체적인 긴장감을 놓치고 있지 않은 작품의 테마는 ‘소통’에 대한 문제이다. 따라서 필자는 인물들간의 소통의 문제를 가지고 본 텍스트를 분석하고자 한다. 말하자면, 이들이 경험한 소통의 단절, 즉 사람 사이에 선명하게 놓인 ‘벽’이 그들의 공간 안에서 어떤 권력 관계를 갖고 있는지에 대해 관심을 가졌다. 등장인물들은 각자의 공간 앞에 벽을 쳐놓고 있긴 하지만, 타자와의 소통 자체를 회피하지 않는다. 모두 각자의 방법으로 소통을 시도한다. 박준은 글쓰기를 통해, 서술자는 편집이라는 진술을 통해, 그리고 김박사는 치료라는 행위를 통해 세상과 끊임없이 소통을 시도했다. 그러나 그들은 소통 이전에 주어진 선험적인 공간의 문제로 인해 소통이 제대로 이뤄지지 않았다. 오히려 상처를 받기도 했고, 주체성의 파멸 혹은 존재의 균열을 맛보았으며, 삶의 부조리를 경험했다. 따라서 작품은 열린 결말 형식을 취한 환멸의 플롯을 보여주고 있다. 이를 바탕으로 한 본 논문은 전체적으로 ‘수직 소통’과 ‘삼각 구도로서의 소통’으로 구분하였다. 먼저, 수직 소통에, ‘소통의 어긋남과 파국, 타자의 시선과 주체성의 존재 양상, 존재의 부조리와 죽음’이 포함돼 있으며, 그 다음 삼각 구도로서의 소통에는 ‘일상과 비일상 그리고 추락’, ‘안과 밖, 그리고 경계’라는 내용을 다뤘다. 이를 간단하게 요약하면 다음과 같다. 먼저 박준은 외부 권력의 감금으로 소통이 이뤄지지 않았다. 그러자 그는 고통을 이기지 못해 일상적 삶의 공간을 벗어났고, 김 박사는 타자를 배려하지 않은 채 자신만의 방법으로 치료 행위를 소통을 시도했기에 결국 실패하고 말았다. 이는 소통의 부재를 통한 관계의 파멸과 존재의 추락을 의미하는 것이다. 인물들은 대등한 조건 속에서 소통하는 게 아니라, 어느 한쪽의 일방적인 고집으로 소통을 시도한다. 그 결과 그들은 서로 간의 단절을 경험할 뿐이다. 이는 엇갈린 소통과 파국, 타자의 시선과 주체성의 존재 방식, 그리고 존재의 부조리와 죽음으로 드러난다. 두 번째는 소통 방식이 감각 구도를 형성하고 있음을 밝혔다. 즉 인물이 일상적으로 살아가는 삶의 공간(일상), 일상성을 벗어난 낯선 공간(비일상), 이 두 공간으로부터 밀려나는 추락의 의미를 짚었다. 끝으로는 하숙방을 공간의 ‘안’이라고 보았고, 병원을 ‘밖’으로 보았으며, 잡지사를 ‘경계’로 보았다. 경계는 안과 밖의 공간을 이어주는 디딤돌 역할을 하고 있다는 측면에서 텍스트를 분석했다.
