윤동주시연구

Abstract

본 연구에서는 일제시대 암울한 시기에 태어나 민족의 현실을 아파하면서 억울하게 적국의 땅에서 죽음을 맞이한 시인 윤동주의 작품세계를 시대별로 나누어 그 특성을 살펴보았다. 윤동주의 작품은 다수의 동시를 비롯하여 민족적 정서가 담긴 작품과 종교적 영향을 받은 작품, 그리고 자아성찰을 이루는 작품 등으로 구분할 수 있다. 이러한 그의 작품을 효과적으로 이해하기 위해 역사주의 비평과 형식주의 및 심리주의 비평의 접근법을 사용하였다. 필자는 윤동주의 작품세계를 이해하기 위해 먼저 그의 생애사에 대해 알아보고, 변화의 주요 시점을 고려하여 그의 시세계를 네 개로 나누어서 시기별 특징을 각 시기의 작품세계가 어떤 특징을 갖고 있는지 살펴보았다. 첫번째는 유년시절에 해당하는 시기로 동심의 세계와 종교적 영향 등을 중심으로 그의 작품을 이해하였다. 이 시기는 고향과 부모님에 대한 그리움을 서정적으로 표현하였다. 작품의 밑바탕에는 민족적 정서가 깔려 있어 작품 곳곳에서 한국적 정서가 짙게 배어나오는 것을 알 수 있었다. 두번째는 그가 연희전문학교에서 문학의 꿈을 키우던 시기로 작품 속에 현실에 대한 인식과 자아의식이 싹트는 것이 큰 특징으로 드러난다. 여기서는 조국이 처한 비극적 현실을 인식하게 되면서 고뇌하는 한 지성인의 모습이 드러난다. 그러한 고뇌는 과거의 자아와 현실의 자아의 괴리감으로 표현된다. 세번째는 연희전문학교에서 문학을 전공하게 되면서 작품의 수준이 절정에 달하는 단계이다. 문학적 소양이 넓어짐으로써 그의 의식도 매우 성숙하여 현실에 대한 고뇌와 자아성찰을 작품으로써 승화시킨다. 이 시기에서는 어두운 시대현실 속에서도 더 나은 미래에 대한 의지를 보이기 시작한다. 마지막으로는 윤동주가 일본으로 건너간 시기로 현전하는 다섯 작품을 토대로 하였다. 이 시기에는 그가 일제에 의해 투옥됨으로써 현전하는 작품의 숫자가 매우 적지만 작품의 성격으로 보면 앞 시기와는 확연히 달라진 그의 의식세계가 드러난다. 즉 그는 적국의 하늘 아래서 조국의 비극적 현실이 개선될 것이라는 희망을 내다보고 있다. 그리하여 그의 의식은 ‘부끄러움’에서 ‘기다림’으로 바뀌게 된다. 이상과 같이 윤동주의 작품을 시기별로 나누어 통시적 관점에서 그 변화 양상을 알아보았다. 윤동주가 작품을 쓴 시기는 10대 후반에서 20대에 이르는 기간이다. 이 시기는 감성적으로 매우 민감한 때인데, 그것은 작품에서 성장과정에 따른 의식의 변화로 드러난다. 초기 시에서는 동심과 서정성이 두드러진다면, 중기 이후에는 어두운 조국 현실에 대한 인식과 자아의식이 깊어진다. 그리고 후기에는 그럼에도 불구하고 희망을 잃지 않고 조국의 밝은 미래를 예견함으로써 기다림의 자세를 갖는다. 결론적으로 윤동주의 시심에는 순수하면서도 뜨거운 조국애가 바탕을 이루고 있으며, 그것이 그의 작품을 아름답게 채색하고 있는 것으로 파악된다.; This study researched the world of the works by Yoon dong-joo, the poet who was born in the dark days of Japanese occupation, lived with pain from national reality and died on the earth of enemy with chagrin, and examined the traits of his works according to the ages. The works by Yoon dong-joo can be classified as lots of children's verse related works, national emotion based works, religion influenced works, and self contemplation related works. To understand his works effectively I used approaches of historic, formal, and psychological criticism. And to comprehend his world of works, I researched his life story at first, and then contemplated the traits of his works by dividing his life from 1st age to 4th age with considering important point of time in change. The 1st age corresponds to his childhood, and I comprehended his works of this day based on the world of childish innocence and the religious influence. In this period of works, he expressed his longing for his hometown and parents lyrically. As in the base of his works, there were national emotion, so I could see Korean emotion was saturated deeply everywhere in his works. The second age corresponds to his college life in Yeonhi, when he cultured his dream of literacy, and there can be seen a sprout of his consciousness of reality and self awareness as a conspicuous trait. In this period of works, we can see a suffered intellectual with recognizing tragic reality of his own country. This suffering was expressed as the discrepancy between the past ego and the present ego. The third age corresponds to the period when he majored literacy in Yeonhi college and got to the peak of work's level. As his literary culture had increased, his consciousness also matured, and he got to sublimate his suffering and self contemplation in works. In this period of works, he showed his will to better future even in the reality of dark age. The fourth age corresponds to his livelihood in Japan and is classified based on the five works which are existent. In this period, as he was caught in jail by Japan, so there are few works which are present, but we can see his world of consciousness that are apparently different from those of past. In other words, he began to reveal hope that the tragic reality of the nation would change to improvement even though he was under the heaven of the enemy country. Then after his consciousness began to change from sham to longing. As above, I examined the works by Yoon dong-joo and their change shapes in the view of diachronicness by dividing them according to the ages. The works of Yoon dong-joo were made from his late teens to twenties. This period was of very sensitive, and it was represented in his works as a change of consciousness according to the growth process. If there is seen much childish innocence and lyrical emotion in his early poet, we can see his deepen awareness of the dark reality of nation in his middle age. And again in his later age, we can see his longing attitude for national bright future without losing hope, nevertheless the reality. In conclusion, in Yoon dong-joo's poetic turn of mind, there is the base of pure and ardent love for country, and it seems make his works beautiful.
