한국 현대 건축의 비평 담론에 관한 연구

Abstract

The first chapter introduces background and purpose of the study to set the focus of the study and then, describes scope and methods of the study; 비평의 가치는 비평가의 건축적 접근 방식과 시각을 바탕으로 연속적이고 일관된 사색과 통찰의 산물로 표출되어지는 것으로 건축물에 새로운 의미 부여와 평가를 수행하고 한 시대의 건축적 담론을 형성한다. 비평 담론을 생성시키는 매커니즘이 존재하며 비평가들에게 내재된 기계적 장치를 통하여 비평으로 표현되어 진다. 비평가들에게 내재된 기계적 장치는 비평가들이 건축에 접근하는 방식이고, 건축을 바라보는 시각으로 다양한 건축물을 비평할지라도 생성물은 이러한 접근방식과 시각이 반영되어 표출되어 진다. 현대 건축의 비평 담론을 형성하고 있는 요인들을 통하여 담론의 변위를 측정하고 비평가들이 지닌 건축적 접근방식을 규명함으로써 내재적 요인이 표현되어 나타나는 생성을 파악하고자 한다. 이에, 본 연구는 1980년대 이후의 한국 현대 건축의 비평 담론의 연구를 진행하며 현재 활동 중인 비평가들의 비평과 건축 이론을 분석하여 한국 현대 건축의 비평 전개 방향을 확인하고 이를 지적 지형도로 작성한다. 지형도의 다양한 층위의 변화를 통하여 건축 비평의 현재성 확인 및 비평 담론을 밝혀냄으로써 한국 건축의 지적 경향을 연구하는 것이 본 논문의 목적이다, 본 논문의 구성 체계는 다음과 같다 1장 서론에서는 연구의 배경과 목적을 통한 연구의 중심을 설정하고 연구의 범위와 방법에서 1980년대 이후 한국 현대 건축의 비평을 설정한 이유와 비평가의 선정 및 분석의 방법을 제시하였다. 2장 비평에 관한 고찰에서는 1960년대 이후의 한국 건축 경향을 정리하고, 1980년대 이후의 한국 건축 비평계의 활성화를 도모한 건축 전문 잡지와 건축비평집단을 고찰한 후 공간과 건축과환경의 분석 시도 및 기존 건축 비평에 관한 연구를 분석함으로써 본 연구와의 차별성을 서술하였다. 3장 비평 작가군의 선정에서는 비평 작가의 선정 기준과 작가의 Reference 선정 및 분석 방법을 기술하였다. 4장 작가의 분석과 분류에서는 Reference 분석을 실시하여 키워드 추출과 언술을 통하여 건축적 경향의 접근 방식을 밝히고, 작가의 비평 대상 및 비평 양상을 분석하였다. 5장 지적 지형도에서는 비평 담론을 형성시키는 잠재적 층위와 표현되어지는 현재적 층위를 설정하여 비평 담론의 지적 체계와 흐름을 표현하였다. 6장 결론에서는 본 연구의 결과를 기술하였으며 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 1980년대 이후는 다양한 비평 주체들의 출현과 외재적 요인으로 건축 비평의 부흥기로 진작되며 새로운 지적 층위를 형성하고 있다. 2) 분석 대상의 비평가들은 도시유형학, 현상학, 포스트모더니즘, 비판적지역주의, 이데올로기비판, 테크놀로지, 형식주의, 후기구조주의, 도시이론/랜드스케이프의 건축적 접근 방식 및 시각을 유지하고 있다. 3) 한국 현대 건축의 비평 담론은 1960년대 이후의 서구 건축이론에서 도출되고 있는 철학적 사유체계의 다양한 관점들과 유사성을 지니고 있다. 4) 비평 작가의 건축적 사고와 비평의 양상이 현재 한국 현대 건축의 주요 담론을 형성하고 있으며 그들의 건축적 사고가 표출되어진 비평 대상 건축가를 지형도로 작성함으로써 한국 건축의 지적 지형의 현재성을 파악할 수 있었다. 5) 지적 지형도의 작성으로 다양한 비평 담론을 바탕으로 비평 대상 건축가는 한국 현대 건축의 주요 건축가로 집중 되고 있었다.; Criticism is a product of critic's continuous and consistent thoughts of and insights into architectural approaches and views, and it serves to attach new meanings to buildings or assess them to form an architectural discourse of an age. There exists a mechanism generating such a discourse, and criticism is expressed through such a mechanic mechanism immanent in critics. The mechanic mechanism immanent in critics is their approach to architecture as well as their view of architecture, and so, even if a variety of buildings are criticized from various perspectives of architecture, the results would reflect such approaches and views. The purpose of this study was to review the factors affecting the discourse of criticism for the Korean contemporary architecture and thereby, measure the displacements of the discourse and identify critics' architectural approaches to understand the results of the immanent factors expressed and shown up. For this purpose, the researcher analyzed the criticisms and architectural theories which have prevailed in the discourse of criticism for the Korean contemporary architecture since 1980's and thereupon, ascertained the directions of the criticism for the Korean contemporary architecture and draw their intellectual topography. Namely, this study was aimed at addressing the architectural criticism and its discourse by varying the dimensions of this topography and thereby, determining the intellectual trend of our contemporary architecture. This study consists of the following chapters; the reasons why the scope is limited to criticism of the Korean contemporary architecture since 1980's are explained, and the criteria for selection of critics and a framework of analysis are suggested. The second chapter reviews the theories about criticism, and overviews the trend of the Korean architecture since 1960's and then, examines special architecture magazines and architecture critic groups who have led nation's criticism of architecture since 1980's and thereupon, analyzes the criticism of architecture led by nation's leading magazines SPACE and Architecture & Environment as well as the literature about criticism of architecture. The third chapter describes the criteria for selection of critics and their references and then, the methods of analysis used. The fourth chapter analyzes the references to abstract key words and examines the criticism styles to determine the approaches to the architectural trends and analyzes the subjects and spectrum of criticism. The fifth chapter sets the potential dimension of the discourse of criticism and its actual dimension expressed to analyze the intellectual system and flow of the discourse. The sixth chapter concludes the study, summarizing the results of this study as follows; 1) Since 1980's, diverse critics have appeared to flourish a Renaissance of architectural criticism and for a new intellectual dimension. 2) The critics have maintained such architectural approaches and views as urban typology, phenomenology, post-modernism, critical regionalism, criticism of ideologies, technology, formalism, post-structuralism, city theories/landscape approaches, etc. 3) The discourse of criticism in the Korean contemporary architecture shows diverse viewpoints similar to the system of philosophical thoughts which have prevailed in the Western architectural theories. 4) Critics' architectural thoughts and criticism styles have been forming a major discourse of criticism in the Korean contemporary architecture, and an intellectual topography of nation's architecture could be drawn by mapping the major architects criticized to determine the current intellectual topography of our contemporary architecture. 5) As a result of mapping such an intellectual topography, it could be confirmed that the architects criticized by diverse discourses have represented nation's architecture.
