문수영의 실시간 전자음향과 피아노를 위한 'S-Piece' 분석연구

Abstract

본 논문은 전자음악 연구의 일환으로 문수영의 라이브 일렉트로 어쿠스틱 음악(live electro-acoustic music)작품인 전자음향과 피아노를 위한 'S-Piece'의 분석을 통하여 작품의 소재와 구조, 그리고 실시간 처리를 위한 기술적 특징들을 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 먼저, 본 작품이 쓰여 질 수 있었던 배경이 되는 음악사적 내용들을 언급함으로써 작품이 음악사적 흐름에서 어떠한 위치에 있는지, 그리고 어느 범주에 해당하는 작품인지를 확인하고, 작품의 구체적인 분석을 통해 본 작품에 사용된 전자음악의 어법들과 음악적, 기술적 내용들을 살펴보았다. 또한, 본 작품의 라이브 연주 시 필요한 전자음악 장비 등의 셋팅과 고려사항을 언급하고 연주 시 피아노 연주와 전자음향의 인터랙션(interaction)이 원활하게 이루어질 수 있도록 도와주는 기술적 내용들에 대해 살펴보았다. 이상의 방법으로 연구한 결과 피아노의 고전적인 특징을 해치지 않는 가운데, 실시간 제어에 의한 전자음향의 첨가 및 연주자와 컴퓨터간의 상호작용에 의해 유기적으로 곡을 만들어나가는 방법 등을 밝혔다. 또한 피아노의 음향과 컴퓨터에 의해 출력되는 전자음은 서로간의 조화를 이루어 합주 개념의 연주가 되어야 하기 때문에 적절한 밸런스 조절이 필요하며 오디오 신호의 흐름에 대한 확실한 이해 또한 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 아울러 연주 중에 발생할 수 있는 기술적 오류들은 곡 전체의 내용에 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 결론적으로, 악기와 전자음향 간의 이질성을 지양하고 하나의 곡 안에서 통일성을 추구하며 전자음향과 피아노 연주와의 긴밀한 인터랙션을 추구했다는 점은 초기 전자음악의 실험적 단계에서 벗어난 완성도 높은 작품의 구성을 위한 하나의 지침이 될 수 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다.; This thesis is focused on scrutinizing musical and technical aspects of 'S-Piece'for Live Electro-acoustic music and Piano, composed by Moon, Soo Young, in the behalf of the research on Electronic music. First of all, the historical events in electronic music are referred to illustrate the position of this work and to confirm the genre which this work is involved in. Then, the musical and technical matters are examined by analysis of the work in detail. Also, the list and the setting of electronic gears for performing this work and the matters that demand special attention are mentioned. In addition, the technical factors which allow the piano player and the computer to interact effectively are examined. This thesis presents that Moon's work is composed based on the two aspects. One is the live electro-acoustic music by real-time control, and the other is the pursuit of the interaction between the pianist and the computer. Moreover, this thesis refers that It needs to control the balance between the acoustic sound and the electronic sound since the piano sound and the computer generated sound should be performed as an ensemble. Also, it is essential to acquire the knowledge about the flowing diagram of the audio signal processing, since the technical errors which could be occurred during the live concert have negative influence on the whole piece. As a result, this thesis represents the importance of Moon's work in aspects of three facts. First, in Moon's work, the simple enumeration of electronic sound and the use of incongruous electronic sound with acoustic instruments sound are avoided. Second, a unity is pursued in this work. Third, the tight interaction between instrument performer and the electronic sound player such as computer is accomplished. These facts are meaningful in that this work achieves the perfection of composing electronic music out of the primitive stage.
