한국 인터넷 사이트의 간질 정보에 대한 분석

Abstract

인터넷은 일반 환자들에게 많은 의료 정보를 제공하고 있다. 그러나 인터넷에 정보를 올리는데 있어서 기준이 될 만한 것이 없기 때문에 제공되는 정보의 질은 상당히 다양하다. 본 연구의 목적은 한국 인터넷의 간질 정보를 내용적, 윤리적으로 평가하고 분석하는 것이다. 우리는 가장 많이 쓰이고 있는 5개의 한국 인터넷 검색엔진을 이용하여 ‘간질’, ‘발작’ 이라는 단어를 입력하여 나오는 웹사이트를 찾았다. 검색해서 나온 웹사이트는 인기도순에 따라 상위와 하위군으로 나누었고, 또한 정보제공자별로 전문가와 비전문가군으로 나누었다. 그리고 윤리적, 내용적 척도를 만들어 점수화한 다음 통계적 방법으로 분석하였다. 모두 28개의 웹사이트를 찾았고, 전반적인 윤리적, 내용적 측면의 평균점수는 하위군뿐만 아니라 상위군에서도 중간 이하로 낮았다. 두 가지 척도에서 모두 상위군의 점수는 통계학적으로 하위군과 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 뿐만 아니라, 전문가군의 점수도 비전문가군과 비교하여 높지 않았다. 인터넷을 이용하면 간질을 포함한 건강의료정보를 쉽게 접할 수 있어 많은 사람들이 웹사이트에서 정보를 얻는 추세이기 때문에, 정보의 질을 표준화하는 것이 시급하다. 이 연구에서는 한국의 웹사이트의 인기도 순위나 정보제공자의 전문성 등에 상관없이 전반적인 간질 정보의 수준이 많이 떨어지는 것으로 나타났고 여기에 대한 해결책을 제시하고자 한다.; Background: The internet has a great amount of medical information for patients, but because no standards exist regarding the publication of medical literature on the internet, the quality of the internet information is quite variable. The purpose of our study was to assess the content and ethics of information on epilepsy, which is available on the Korean internet. Methods: The search word "epilepsy" or "seizure" was entered into the five most commonly utilized Korean internet search engines. The web sites were divided into the higher or lower rank sites on the basis of popularity ranking, andinto the specialist or non-specialists group by informers. We evaluated them by using both ethic and content value scales, and then the comparison between two groups was analyzed in the statistics. Results: Twenty eight epilepsy web sites were identified and divided into two equal groups. The average scores of ethic and content value scales were below half of the total score in the higher rank group as well as the lower. The score of higher rank group was not different statistically to that of lower rank group in both value scales. In addition, the score in the epilepsy specialists group was not higher than that in the non-specialists as well. Discussion: The internet is easily accessible source of medical information including epilepsy. Moreover, because lots of epileptic patients are using the web for obtaining the information, the web information should be standardized. The results of our study show that clinicians should not recommend the epilepsy web site as a source of information for epileptic patients unless the epilepsy websites have been evaluated and assessed.
