미니멀리즘의 조형적 특성을 이용한 금속제 테이블웨어 연구

Abstract

본 연구에서는 테이블웨어가 도구로서 지니는 기본적인 기능뿐만 아니라 주방이라는 공간에 세련되고 미적인 이미지를 제공하는 역할을 함으로서 현대인의 감성과 여유를 충족시킬 수 있는 테이블웨어를 연구하고자 하였다. 디자인 전개에 있어서는 본 연구의 이론적 배경이 되는 미니멀리즘을 이해하고 조형적 특성을 파악하여 단순하고 간결한 조형미를 지닌 테이블웨어를 구상해 보고자 하였다. 따라서 장식적 요소를 줄이고 금속 자체가 지닌 재료의 특성은 그대로 살려 정원(正圓)의 반복적인 사용이나 크기의 변화 등 간결한 요소만으로도 기존의 디자인과 차별화된 이미지를 이끌어내고자 하였다. 실질적인 작업에 들어가기에 앞서 입체로써의 정원(正圓)의 이미지를 다양하게 접해보기 위해 석고를 이용하여 모델링 작업을 하였다. 이 작업은 실제 작품과 거의 흡사한 형태를 얻을 수 있다는 점에서 매우 흥미로웠으며 디자인 전개에 있어서 중요한 모티브가 되었다. 제작기법에 있어서는 디자인에 따라 기본적으로 망치성형 작업이 선행되었으며 그 밖에 선반가공, 스피닝, 레이저 컷팅 등을 이용하였다. 이러한 디자인과 제작기법은 향후의 생산성을 고려한 것이며 실생활에서도 쓰일 수 있어야 함을 목적으로 하였다. 재료에 있어서는 은(92.5% Silver), 황동(Brass), 적동(Copper), 스텐레스 스틸(Stainless Steel), 듀랄루민(Duralumin)을 사용하였고 나무와 도자(Ceramic)를 부재료로 사용하였다. 쓰임에 있어서는 보울, 쟁반, 기(器), 스푼, 다기(茶器) 등의 테이블웨어를 제작하였고 이 중 몇 가지는 금속의 열전도성이라는 특성을 이용하여 차가운 음료를 즐기는데 있어 그 효과를 극대화 할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한 주방이라는 공간에서 활용된다는 점을 염두에 두어 세척을 용이하게 하기 위한 배려도 하였다. 따라서, 본 연구는 미니멀리즘의 근본 조형 개념을 바탕으로 한 생활용기를 디자인하고 산업 현장과의 제작상의 긴밀한 교류를 통하여 향후 다품종 소량생산에 입각한 테이블웨어 시제품을 연구제작해 보고자 한다.; In this study, not only the basic function of tableware as a tool but the role that provides an artistic image in a space called 'Kitchen' were suggested to satisfy the sense and taste of people today. For the display of design, the minimalism that is the theoretic background of this study was discussed and its formative characteristics were carefully examined to suggest a tableware with simple but laconical beauty. Thus, decorative element was reduced and unique characteristics of metal were emphasized to drag a differentiate image such as repeated use of a circle or changing the usage or size of materials from the existing designs with mere laconical elements. Before initiating the actual work, the modeling process was done with plaster to see various images of a circle with multi-dimension. This process was interesting because it enabled to create an art piece that was almost identical to a real one, and eventually it became an important motif for the design development. Depending on designs, various techniques were used for producing and basically, the hammering work was preceded ahead of the actual designing. Also, lathe, spinning, laser cutting were used. Such designs and the producing techniques were based on the consideration on the further production in reality. The materials used were 92.5% of silver, brass, copper, stainless steel, and duralumin), and some wood and ceramic were adopted as additional materials. For usage, bowls, trays, vessels, spoons, and a tea set were produced as tableware and some of them were produced by utilizing the heat conductivity, thus, they maximized their efficiency to enjoy cold drinks. Because tableware is mainly used in kitchen, every product was designed to be cleaned easily. In conclusion, this study designs living utensils based on the basic formative concept of minimalism and suggests new tableware that is small-sized and multi-items oriented production through a close communication with a manufacturing agent.
