ERP시스템 도입의 재무성과에 관한 연구

Abstract

최근 우리나라의 기업환경은 정보기술의 발달과 소비시장의 다양화 및 시장의 글로벌화 등에 의해 급속도로 변화하고 있다. 이에 따라 ERP시스템을 도입하여 정보시스템을 구축하는 기업들이 증가하고 있다. 본 연구는 ERP시스템의 도입을 통해 얻을 수 있는 여러 가지 효과들 가운데 객관적인 정보인 재무제표를 이용하여 재무적인 측면에서의 경영성과에 관한 실증적인 자료를 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 ERP시스템을 도입완료한 기업들을 대상으로 시스템 도입 전ㆍ후의 재무성과를 4가지, 즉 재고자산관련변수, 수익성관련변수, 성장성관련변수 및 비용절감관련변수로 나누어 측정하였고, 대응표본 t-검증을 통해 양 집단 간의 차이를 비교분석하였다. 분석결과, 재고자산관련변수와 비용절감관련변수는 ERP시스템의 도입 전ㆍ후에 유의적인 차이를 보여 ERP시스템의 도입은 재고자산관리의 효율화에 기여하였으며, 비용을 절감시키는 효과를 가져온 것으로 나타났다. 반면에 수익성관련변수와 성장성관련변수에서는 유의한 차이가 측정되지 않았는데, 이는 ERP시스템의 도입으로 인한 수익성 및 성장성측면에서의 성과가 나타나기에는 연구대상기간이 충분하지 않았기 때문이며, 또한 ERP시스템을 구축하는데 소요된 투자비가 도입 후 일정기간에 걸쳐 비용화되어 도입성과가 희석화되었을 것으로 본다. 한편 본 연구에서는 연구대상기간을 동일기간으로 함으로써 표본기업의 ERP시스템 도입 전ㆍ후 기간에 대한 비교분석의 가치를 높였으며, ERP시스템의 도입에 대한 다양한 측면에서의 재무적인 성과를 보여주었다는데 의의가 있다. 다만, 표본기업의 수가 71개로 적어서 본 연구의 결과를 일반화시키기에는 무리가 있고, ERP시스템을 도입하지 않은 기업과의 차이를 비교하지 못했으며, 투자비의 규모에 따른 성과의 차이를 고려하지 못한 한계점을 지니고 있다. 향후 연구에 있어서는 표본기업의 수를 늘려 업종별 및 기업규모별로 분석의 수준을 확대하거나, ERP시스템을 도입하지 않은 기업들을 통제집단으로 선정하여 차이를 분석해 볼 필요가 있겠다.; Our corporate environment has been rapidly changing as there were the rapid development in information technology, diversified consumer markets and market globalization. Therefore, numerous corporations are establishing information system infrastructure by implementing ERP system. Among various benefits of the implementation of ERP system, this study was intended to present empirical data regarding the business performances from the financial point of view, using financial statements as objective information. This study has measured financial performances of ERP Implementation in terms of four different aspects - variables related with inventory, variables related with profitability, variables related with growth, and variables related with cost reduction - by surveying enterprises that have implemented ERP system. The study has also analyzed the differences in these 2 separate groups(prior to the Implementation vs. after the implementation) through the paired sample t-test. According to the analysis, it is concluded that the implementation of ERP system has contributed to the efficiency in inventory management as well as cost effectiveness. However, regarding the variables related with profitability and the variables related with growth, the analysis has not shown significant differences. The reason is that the period of sampling was not long enough to see any noticeable effects of the implementation of ERP system in these 2 aspects. Moreover, investments that had been made to establish ERP system have been expended over certain periods after the implementation stage and thus, implementation effects must have been greatly diluted. By equalizing the period of sampling, this study has improved the values of comparative analysis of the effects of the ERP implementation for sample groups. Furthermore, the study has shown financial effects of the implementation of ERP system in various aspects. However, the numbers of sample groups were not suitable for generalizing the results of the study and the study has failed to compare the differences with those enterprises that did not implement the ERP system. Also, the study has its limits in that it has failed to show any differences in effectiveness with regards to the magnitude of investments. For future studies, the level of analysis needs to increase the volume of by industry and by size of the enterprises. Furthermore, comparative analysis needs to be conducted by selecting the enterprises that haven’t implemented ERP system as the controlled groups.
