창작발레의 대중적 활성화에 관한 연구

Abstract

예술(Art)은 사회라는 토대와 분리된 채로 성장하고 발전할 수 없다. 모든 예술의 역사가 그러하듯이, 무용(발레)의 역사도 그 시대에 존재하는 사람들의 문화, 습관, 감정표현의 변화 속에 형성되어진 예술에 대한 개념에 비롯하여 발달하고, 현대인들은 복잡하고 다양한 변화속에 계속해서 새로운 것을 추구하려 한다. 발레 역시 고전발레(Classic Ballet) 레퍼토리 수용과 한국 창작발레(Creative Ballet)의 개발이라는 이원화된 방향으로 발전되어 오면서 이제는 순수예술(Pure Art)로서의 개념을 뛰어넘어 21세기 대표적인 공연예술로서 성장하고 있다. 이는 곧 특정계층에 의해 향유되는 순수예술로서의 예술보다 상위개념으로 모든 사람이 함께 공감하고 경험할 수 있는, 문화시대라는 시대적 특성에 부합하는 대중예술(Popular Art)로서 발전함을 뜻한다. 창작발레는 발레계의 세계 역사적 발전차원에서의 시각 뿐 아니라, 작품 소재의 폭을 넓히고 다양한 형태의 공연방식을 통하여 빠르게 변화하고 있는 관객(대중)들의 욕구를 채워주며, 더 나아가 공연수입증대를 통한 단체재정과 안정성 · 작품의 완성도를 높여주는 중요한 역할을 한다. 이제는 전공인들에 의해 자족하는 공연에서 벗어나 수용층 확대라는 적극적인 방법으로 대중친화작업을 모색하고 작품내용의 질적 향상과 함께 대중적인 소재개발이라는 두 가지 목표를 모두 충족시키는 방향으로 대중화 작업은 이루어져야 할 것이다. 따라서 본 논문은 창작발레의 대중적 활성화 방안을 모색하는데 목적이 있으며, 창작발레의 개념 및 한국 창작발레의 시대적 흐름을 통하여 창작발레를 이해하는데서 시작하였다. 그리고 창작발레를 활성화 시키는 대상으로 ‘대중’ 이라는 주체요인을 두고 그 취지를 바탕으로 명확한 의미에서의 대중은 누구이며 그들이 지니는 대중문화의 성격과 특성을 살펴 그에 맞는 창작발레의 활성화 방안을 연구하는 형태로 방향을 모색함과 동시에 더욱 이루어 져야 할 연구 과제를 제시해 보았다. 본 연구자는 발레가 어렵고 난해한 특정계층만이 향유하는 고급문화라는 편견을 없애고 모든 사람들이 함께 공감하고 즐길 수 있는 문화예술로서 발전할 수 있기를 바란다.; Art cannot grow or develop, if it is separate from its ground or the society. As the history of any art dictates, the history of dance (ballet) has evolved with people's ever-changing culture, habits and emotional expressions. Our modern men attempt to pursue something new continuously in a complicated and diversified society. As for ballet, it has developed being divided into Classic Ballet and Creative one, and now, it transcends the concept of pure art to grow as a performance art representing the 21st century. In other words, ballet is developing into a popular art as a super-concept of pure art which people can sympathize with or experience. Creative Ballet meet audience's needs changing rapidly by expanding its sources and performance styles not only from the perspective of the world ballet history but also within its inherent paradigm, and furthermore, help increase the revenues for the ballet company and enhance stability and perfection of ballet works. Now is the time when we ballerinas should not simply feel satisfied for ourselves but explore the ways to expand the audience by approaching them in a familiar way and enhancing the quality of works and developing more popular sources. Then, our ballet will be rooted more deeply in our audience. The purpose of this study was to explore the ways to popularize the creative ballet. For this purpose, the researcher started by reviewing concept of creative ballet and its history, and thereupon, focused on the 'audience' to activate the creative ballet. Based on the definition of the audience or the people, the researcher examined nature and characteristics of the popular culture and therethrough, examined the ways to revitalize the create ballet in Korea together with the challenges. It is hoped that this study will be useful to help people avoid their obsession that ballet is difficult to understand and thus, it can only be enjoyed by a certain class of our society, and thereby, promote and develop our creative ballet to be a cultural art which every people can sympathize with and enjoy.
